That sounds great, Mike. I think that will be much better!

I think we need a category/forum for the BC members' saved recipes. This is a huge amount of space. Mike, when you posted all of your recipes here it was all we could see on the right-hand side for a long time and if we put all of the recipes we all have saved it will be a long time before we can see any new kinds of posts on the right-hand side.

Back in 2011, I sent jej's recipes to her in groups...over 100. Hers did not get moved from the oldBC due to an email snafu. She tried adding a few on the newBC but she never got many of them of all she had.

I sent rottiedogs pages of recipes/names/stuff to save that I never put on the BC at the end. I have many of the same ones others saved but I got Carla's and Cyndiok's that I doubt anyone else got under their names. I had rottiedogs save the old FAQ at the end when we got extra time. I like that we saved so many as a group under a name.

I'm so glad we got a lot of the threads saved, too. I had one on chocolate cakes but never did find it to save. It was as nice as the white and yellow cake threads I started. I saved the KAF Crumb Cakes recipe they sent out with the Toaster Cakes recipe with the 4 x 1" stand alone cake papers. Cooksgirl tinkered with it and did a 9 x 13" pan version. DL and I loved making that recipe.

I wonder if anyone got Bookbag's recipes saved. She got honked off and deleted her account in late Jan. 2004 so her posted recipes went with her but BCers had several of hers saved and put together a bunch of them in a thread.

When I saved in Word, I just got the recipe title and the whole recipe, leaving all the other stuff off.

Jej emailed me maybe last week and asked for the sites details and I sent her the good stuff she needed to join but I never heard back from her and have not seen her on any of the sites.

We all got enough saved to make a big dent in the whole lot KAF had.

The same thing happened Sunday afternoon. I think Zen is busy moving.

My dad received two purple hearts for war injuries in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. I think there are around 230 flags on display now. There is always a nice gathering at our courthouse square's Memorial Arch. There are so many small cemeteries the VFW and American Legion visit in our county and there are flags on each veteran's grave.

When I was a little kid, people went to cemeteries around Memorial Day and placed peonies or other flowers on the graves of loved ones.

Years ago. on TV they interviewed people about the meaning of Memorial Day and most had no idea, some saying it was a day off work.

I'm afraid when several more of our old veterans are no longer alive or able to do the cemetery services the younger ones may not follow on with carrying on the patriotic events.

Italiancook...this is my mom's homemade potato salad dressing...probably much like your mom's:

My Mom's Homemade Potato Salad Dressing

                INSTRUCTIONS
Here is my mom's homemade potato salad dressing. It is so good...everyone asks me for the recipe when I take it to a picnic, etc.

In a small sauce pan over med. heat combine...

                2 eggs, well beaten
                salt
                pepper
                1/2 cup sugar
                1 Tbsp. mustard
1/2 cup vinegar (I use apple cider vinegar)
                1 Tbsp. butter

Stir continually as it cooks over med. heat into a nice thick texture...maybe 5 min. or more after it gets to bubbling...pour over chopped/diced potatoes, diced onions, chopped celery, boiled eggs, & diced red/green peppers. I like to pour it over chopped items while it is still hot, as I think it seems to have more flavor than when poured on after it is cooled.

This sounded strange, but I tried it. The only change that I made... I put two tablespoons of sweet pickle relish in it. OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!

I'm SO glad you enjoyed this old, old family favorite!! I always put the pickle relish in with the diced potatoes, onions and such...we love this and it is the only way we'll eat potato salad...folks at gatherings always gobble this right up!

I'll probably buy California grown Lundberg Family Farms rice. We love the arborio as it is so creamy and I hate to give it up. We eat lots of rice 'n raisins and some chicken/rice dishes I can make easily. When I grew up, we had Riceland long grain rice and in my married life, we have used Riceland brown rice. We live in a very small area with one grocery store in the whole county so I've been ordering arborio rice from jet.com which is very handy, free shipping and 2-day delivery plus good price. They have the Lundberg arborio, a little pricier than Rice Select, but I can live with that for 38% less arsenic.

The test results were scary for infants and children. Recommending using different grains for their cereals instead of rice was the main finding. My son, age 46, needed more that just formula or milk and I used a lot of baby rice cereal in his bottle, thinned down with the milk or formula, and it helped hold him over on being so hungry.

Thanks, Mike...I sent it to her. She didn't mention bacon but did say canned clams and canned clam juice and potatoes so hope it helps her.

My bookmark worked just now but if I do a Google for bakingcircle.com it won't bring up what we have had. And the link still does not work for the clam chowder recipe. Maybe it is dying in stages.

I had an email from a BC friend needing a clam chowder recipe, She is not at home and does not want to eat data on cell phone to go to the BC. I had been going there several times today just to see if it was still up. It worked this morning and this afternoon I was able to get a link for her recipe but when I clicked the link it gave me an error. In just a bit, I began getting the above page for Community. This friend and I had been laughing when I told her maybe they did not know how to pull the plug as they left it up several more days than the 2nd date given. And they failed to take it down back on 2/1/2011.

This looks so good...thanks Italiancook! Bet they would go well for fundraisers in our community. I'm always needing some new things for community sales and meals.
