Finally, I received a gallon of 70% alcohol gel hand sanitizer yesterday. We were low on supply and I'd been cutting our supply with 70% isopropyl alcohol to stretch it. Very few places sold gallons and their prices were extreme plus high shipping.

I found a place in OH late last week that had 30% off on gallons. I had read bad reviews from back when companies had to switch to grain alcohol but this company said our old formula is back.

My UPS shipment had a delay of one day due to civil unrest in an area my package had to travel.

I am filling pumps part way full thru the house so we have it handy where we need it.

In our area, we eat sauerkraut and neck bones...really good!

Many thanks for all the nice birthday wishes. I enjoyed each one.

Special thanks to KidPIzza for having BakerAunt start the thread! It is so good to hear from KP again.

I didn't get a cake baked today as we had storms forecast on and off all day and thru Friday, as well. It will cool down over the weekend so I'll probably bake something then.

My son learned all about cooking, canning, and baking from me. He helped us gather fruits from local orchards and watched and helped me cam them and make preserves and jams. We had a huge garden and I canned 400 jars/cans each year with garden vegetables, pickles, apple butter, applesauce and the like. I had 2 freezers I filled each year, as well. We had beef we got from my dad in the freezers, also.

Each year, I made eight kinds of jams/preserves, not always the same ones as spring freezes would wipe out peach and apricot crops, but I could always get eight kinds.

One year, I got June apples from down the road and froze 105 pints of applesauce. The first year we lived in our new house in the country, I canned 89 quarts of lime pickles.

I grew up on a no-boy dairy farm and helped with daily meals when I was old enough. Then, I was in 4-H and took a Preserving and Canning project which helped me learn all the safety requirements. I took many cooking and baking 4-H projects along the way and always loved to cook and bake. During fall silo filling, we had several men come to help us and we had them for the noon meal which I helped with.

My mom taught me well and my grandma did, as well. Grandma made bread or rolls almost every day. Her house smelled so good when we walked in. She was baking bread when she fell and broke her hip at age 84. She never recovered from the hip surgery and died.

So, my son had a lot of good examples to learn from.

This link has Hefty 2.5 gallon and the Ziplock 2 gallon bags.

I use the 2 gallon bags to take 9 x 13 cakes somewhere.

He said he got 13 pounds of local strawberries and 6 pounds from Walmart. We counted 31 jars filled and cooling in one of the pics. He used some apple shredded in it. The berries looked nice quality. There has been so much rain and that often makes berries not as nice as they are in a drier year but his pics looked like nice quality.

Fall of 2018, DL emailed me about a chocolate pudding recipe she wanted to make for her sweet little grandson. She'd been making my BC recipe for vanilla pudding and she sent me pics of him eating the vanilla. The little boy loves his grandpa and they are best buddies.

She told me her daughter would have a baby girl in February (2019) but I never heard more about that.

My son sent me pics of his quiet birthday. He made 31 jars of strawberry jam today in about 8 hours. He cans lots of things and bakes incredible breads. His cinnamon rolls look like they came from a magazine. He makes almost all of his family's meals from scratch.

He is big on Cook's Country recipes. He brought us pickled green beans, canned pickles, peaches, peach jam and strawberry jam last summer that he had canned.

FedEx Delivery Manager is a tool I use several times a week. It is free and once shipping info has been sent to FedEx, you can see the tracking number. Click on the tracking number and a page will come up with detailed shipping progress. Click on Expand History for details. You just need a username and password to sign up for FedEx Delivery Manager.

                              At 9:18A today, I placed a Walmart.com order. Showed delivery by 5/

28, Thursday. At 5:14P this afternoon, I got a FedEx email showing delivery Tues, 5/26. It came from Plainfield, IN and had already made it to Champaign, IL and had been picked up there. It just has to go to Effingham, IL where it will be on a delivery vehicle for delivery Tues. It would be here on Monday if that was not a holiday.

I went to FedEx Delivery Manager and see another pkg. coming from Galesburg, IL and shipping info has been sent to FedEx. Shows delivery Wed., 5/27.

Most of my Walmart orders come Next Day when holidays are not involved, with free shipping on orders over $ 35.00.

Chocomouse...today must have been the day of extra wild animals showing up at our places. We have so many kinds on a daily basis but today I looked out my picture window and just 15 feet away walked a bobcat. I knew they have been in our area for a few years but have never seen one in our yard. Husband was asleep when I yelled a bobcat is in our front yard, so he did not see it. The bobcat looked right at me and walked on is way.

I'd already chased off skunks and a huge raccoon all day as they raided bird feeders, along with squirrels and a chipmunk as they looked for free foods.

We enjoy our bunnies and the bobcat is a big threat to them.

Italiancook...I am in the same boat with you on cell phones. Last year in May, I had to get a new phone to work on the new networks so I got an iPhone. I know how to answer a call but that is the extent of it. I have another cell phone I have to replace in July as my old smart phone will not work much longer on the new networks. I never mastered that one either.

I keep the two cell phones so if we get stranded with a bad storm or similar event, I can call our power company or other assistance we might need if our landline service is out of commission. I keep both charged well so they'd last a good while if services were to be down several days.

My husband knows less that I do about this issue so we are really a pair.

I looked online for my iPhone manual and it has 600 some pages so it seemed overwhelming to begin with.
