I got it fixed now. There was no Edit button before but there was one now. I didn't think I'd edited that much but I have done a lot of posts/recipes.

I had one more for Kimbob than what you showed but I saw one of hers I left off 'by Kimbob'...I was getting so tired when I did hers and just left it off. I don't seem to be able to edit the recipe title, etc.

There are 84 of my recipes, Mike, that are not on your list. Not counting some others that I posted besides those.

Oh my goodness...I have not been mad at you. Back when you were kidding me about 'hitching posts' and Montgomery Ward and Sears Roebuck catalogs, I was laughing and trying to think of a silly come-back. The last couple of months have been hard on me and I never got back at you.

Our taxes were a nightmare this time because two entities were idiots and I could not get them to fix things without a hassle. Our bank of 49 years changed hands and it was a lot of work and I still don't have it all done. In April, the new bank started sending us all the new rules and regulations for the June 3 change over. Then, the BC closing took a lot out of me time-wise. I was trying to remember a lot of members' recipes and things we needed to save. I'd look up the recipes and alphabetize them and post a link of them so rottiedogs and Bakeraunt could copy and save many of them that I could not get to. I got a lot of emails from BC friends trying to find things they wanted to save so I helped them all I could. I tried to get word to many BCers that didn't visit the site much so they'd have a chance to copy/save.

And, then as my husband just said...you had to put up with me, LOL!! I was shaking my head up and down and laughing at him.

So, you can see what all has been taking up my time the last two plus months.

You'll always be my good friend and buddy so don't worry about thinking you made me upset.

We own a vehicle that is 33 years old so I know about driving old stuff.

Now you can feel better that we got the problems resolved.

            Your dear friend,

            Sarah

I typed in the patent # of our inertia nutcracker and it pulled up the item:

Scroll down for a few more pics.

I watched some of the videos at the Texan York Nut Sheller Google search and there was a guy testing three nut crackers. He liked the inertia one with rubber bands the best for non paper shell pecans. We have one of those, too. All of our nut crackers are from the late 70s-early 80s.

Shelling ear corn was my favorite thing to do on our dairy farm where I grew up. Ours was mounted onto a square wooden box and sat by the feed mill where dad ground corn for our dairy cows and chickens, etc. It was so much fun to see the kernals pop off the cob and the cob to be ejected.

Here is a picture of the working guts like ours. minus the wooden box:

Husband says these would get the green/nasty outer hull off black walnuts but it would not crack them.

Yesterday, when I saw your post re nutcrackers, I had husband dig out two of his. One did not have a name on it so I Googled on lever nut cracker and saw three pics similar to his. One was the very same one Mike gave later from Northern.

I know you said you didn't want the plier type, but the one he uses most is this...Google on Texan York Nut Sheller. It is so easy to use and there is a video on the Google search. He says it takes off both ends and then the shell usually just pops off, leaving perfect halves.

He said the lever one is messy and if he says something is messy it must be really bad as his specialty is making messes. I think you could just use newspapers under it to catch the mess.

Wal-Mart sells the Texan York Nut Sheller.

Kidpizza...I'm so glad you had an enjoyable day to celebrate your 85th birthday! And happy you got fixed up so you can post here. Hoping your pacemaker will provide you with better breathing and help you feel better for along time.

We have been so hot here I cannot even think straight. Two days ago we had 100F and we've had 95s and 97s many days, too. We get our groceries and other things done very early. I know you have very high temps but your humidity is quite low. Our humidity is so high along with the high temps so it saps us even without doing anything.

Stay cool and behave yourself now, =)!

We bought 250 chickens each spring when I was a kid. We bought straight runs, meaning about half were roosters that we dressed and put into freezer each summer and the other about half were hens that produced eggs for our egg route in town and eggs sold from home. We had to use up a lot of eggs during warmer months and we made lots of egg salad, potato salad, and bean salad made with kidney beans. All of those could easily use up extra boiled egg whites with no problems at all. We never wasted a thing and that stuck with me all of my life.

There was a scone recipe in the BC discussions and I cannot recall what else.

The egg yolk thing probably was Laura/4paws2go. Seems I recall her talking on the old BC about this. She had a massive amount of recipes posted under bettina, her oldBC screen name.

I don't know how that happened but it showed up twice. I tried to delete one of them but didn't know how. They were both the exact same time so could not figure it out. A few days ago, when I posted I didn't think the post went so I hit submit again and got an Error...Slow down, we deleted the duplicate post...but that did not happen last night and I only did it once.

Yes, and she put a thread under Recipes...I was going cross-eyed doing this and the thread posts were in with Word recipes and I thought they were Recipes.
