My neighbor gave me 6 down and out bananas. I had 2 of my own. I had a recipe that called for 4 bananas so I made two individual recipes. Too much work. I may have underbaked them as well.
Good story! Hope it works out!
Happy Birthday Mike! We all appreciate the fact that you were born!
I decided to make a turkey breast in my crockpot. I made the "Recipe Tin Eats" recipe before and it turned out great. Different crockpot different results. Even on low my crockpot cooks high. I know how all the newer pots cook high for safety reasons but no one ever got sick using my old crockpot. So my solution is to go to the thrift store and find an old crockpot (or slow cooker) or keep the cover to my present pot slightly ajar!
Now there's a challenge: uses for zucchini relish. How about putting it in potato salad instead of pickle relish!
I make chocolate peanut clusters for my husband. I usually use white chocolate(from TJ's) dark chocolate and milk chocolate melted together. I found these Hershey cinnamon chips that were over due for use . I threw them in the mix. They really do not melt. I had to smush them on the side of the pan. Sometimes being frugal does not pay off. I guess they taste ok according to hubby.
ps: I used Sara Moulton's tip to squish the parchment paper to make it easier to set it on the cookie sheet. It works.
I made pork marsala with sweet vermouth as I did not have marsala. I guess I should say I made" pork sweet vermouth"! I did have mushrooms that were on their last leg. I served it with garlic mashed potatoes. Good recipe. I stole the recipe from Salt&Lavender's blog.
Will have to make this!
I made "Recipe Tin Eats"'s Salisbury steak. Her recipes have served me well. This one was a little time consuming. I had to grate an onion into the bread crumbs. I have to admit it did turn out delicious.
I baked a banana bread. I discovered that the bulk aisle at the local supermarket is the best place to buy chopped walnuts in a small portion.
Happy Anniversary Baker Aunt and husband!! How many years..or is it secret? Was the day hot? Do you take out the pictures from that day and reminisce? We don't but just a thought!
I marinated a pork tenderloin baked it and served it with a zucchini orzo dish with tomato, onion and pesto from the nyt. If I can get one of their recipes online I always read the comments. They are very enlightening.

Baker Aunt, I checked out the above recipe. One difference is mine does not whip the 3 egg whites and uses 3 whole eggs. Oddly enough the amount of flour is the same but there is a 10 gram difference in weight. The recipes are very similar although there is no lemon in the one I used but there is both vanilla and almond extracts. I also used an 8" square pan and baked it a shorter amount of time than called for. I may have to order more almond flour now!
I finally finished using up most of the almond flour that I purchased (why???) Anyway one of my friends mentioned this almond cake her son loves and said it was an easy recipe. And it called for almond flour!!! So I made it and it is delicious. I had to search for the source of the recipe and it comes from Milk Street. It's called "the best Spanish almond cake". It doesn't have butter or oil. It does call for 3 eggs and 3 egg whites. I didn't have turbinado sugar for the top so I used brown sugar. I'm sure the recipe can be found on line but I don't want to ruffle any feathers so I'm not printing it.
