I really didn't know what a bread cloche was so I researched it a little and that led to the Dutch oven option. Obviously, you can do a lot more with a Dutch oven although it might not replicate a cloche exactly. I looked at Dutch ovens on Consumer Reports and see they tested Dutch ovens and one of the tests was bread baking. The expensive Le Crueset did a decent job with that but the much cheaper Lodge enameled cast iron did better. However, the Le Crueset out performed the Lodge in other areas. I thought about it and decided it would be nice to have a Dutch oven for a variety of tasks so I ordered one. I almost bought the Le Crueset but the price of the Lodge kept tugging on my value mindedness at about $300 less. So I ordered the Lodge for about $65. While the primary reason for getting it is not for bread baking I do want to give it a try. Since now I know you're suppose to uncover it about halfway through, it will be easy to test it for doneness. I like the idea of using a parchment paper sling.

Just curious about this, when you bake bread in a cloche or a Dutch oven, do you start it in a cold oven and do you adjust the temperature and time?

I made mac & cheese from the Jenny Can Cook site. The recipe calls for shredded cheddar, I used half mac & cheese blend from Kraft and half Valetta. It's easy enough, doesn't use any butter and it came out ok. I had it with a bbq pork sandwich.

I made my usual sandwich buns but today I added some ground flax seed to it. I hydrated a 1/4 cup of flax seed in an equal amount of water and added it. The buns baked up real nice but I won't know about the texture or taste until tomorrow as I have a bun left from last week to use for tonight's dinner.

I made a pork roast on the bbq yesterday. For tonight's dinner, I'm going to make a sandwich with it.

Joan, I'm so happy my advice was helpful to you and that you got your oven sorted!

I'm going to have a breaded chicken sandwich and am thinking about making soup to go with it. I have a container of chicken broth in the freezer, I'll simmer broccoli, cauliflower and carrot in it with some dried onion, put the stick blender to it and then thicken it with potato flakes.

Mike, for the dishwasher, have you tried Abt? They're not local to you but they will ship many items. You'd have to arrange for the install.

Joan, I'm glad you were able to find it. Truth be told, I was afraid your oven was too old and they wouldn't have parts for it anymore but it's always worth looking. Even though it should be an easy install, I suggest you go to youtube and look up some videos that may help you with it.

Joan, try online. Ereplacementparts, partselect are two places I've done business with. You put the model number of your appliance in their search thingy and a diagram of the appliance with all the parts will come up. Hopefully, they'll have what you need.
