Since I hate to waste I decided to try making a dessert (to bring to neighbors) using up some of my Birds custard powder. I checked the internet for pie filling ideas and for pie crust ideas using up my biscoffs. Should have trusted the custard container directions and not the internet. I ended up stirring that pudding mix for 20 plus minutes until I realized that was too long. I followed the crust directions on another site and it ended in a non cohesive crumble. So I dumped the scrambled egg looking custard in a bowl with the cookie crumbs. I brought over some whipped cream and everyone thought it was delicious!!! Go figure.

I haven't enjoyed BA for a few years now. I think their recipes are strange.

We had store bought salad and cheese bread. The electrical system in our building suffered a fire at 1am Sunday. We will have no electricity for months. Our neighbor in the condo (Florida) helped us to connect to generator so we could plug in the refrigerator. Needless to say neither the stove nor microwave nor dishwasher is working. We have to wash dishes in cold water. We are scheduled to leave on the 24th for home and since the weather hasn't been too bad and the weather is good we will stay til then. Can't wait to get home and start cooking and baking again.

It's getting down to cleaning out the freezer with only 2 weeks left in Fl. So I had a beef tenderloin chain which I cut up and marinated. Then I fried up some onions and the beef, toasted some corn tortilla shells and put the beef in the shells topped with onions and a splash of hot sauce. Yum!

I bought some flank steak on sale...actually 3 steaks before I realized that I don't like flank steak. No matter if I marinated it or pounded it or cut diamond slits in it the steak was still tough. Finally I found a recipe for slow cooking it. Mongolian beef is the name of the recipe. It wasn't tough but then I wondered if I really got a bargain when cheaper chuck steak would have fit the bill.

Definitely giving this subject more than it deserves but I remember why I watched the whole show. One of the hosts was sharing tips ie. that one cup of pureed avocado can replace one cup of butter in baked goods ( got that BA?) and the best one.... that you can press leftover french fries in a waffle iron!!!

Roast beef sandwiches with horseradish mayo, Greek pasta salad and broccoli slaw.

Thanks to the rotisserie chicken stock I froze I was able to make "everything but the kitchen sink "soup.
It's that time of year to pack for Florida and I have to get rid of a lot of stuff in the fridge and freezer. I added meatballs, onions, leftover pork tenderloin, carrots, noodles, spring mix leaves....etc.
                          Somehow it all worked!

ps I heard the FN now has a show involving use of leftovers.

I really liked her chocolate chip cookie recipe. It was so different than your everyday cc cookie IMHO.

Sorry to read she passed but it seems she lived "the good life".

I think I already mentioned this but I took a macaron class at the local cooking school. To make them it required almond flour, a sifter, precise mixing, knowing when they were ready to bake and finally knowing when they were done. The filling and how to fill them was another issue. When I see the contestants on the GBBO whip them up in up in no time it amazes me. As an aside the ones I took home were not appreciated by our guests.

I like the chicken thighs on pizza idea. I marinated boneless skinless chicken thighs in a little rasberry dressing, soy sauce, brown sugar and soy sauce, s&p. Basically looked in the fridge and pulled out what I thought would work. I roasted the whole shebang in the oven with cherry tomatoes and sprayed with a little oil and "Magnifique".

ps I love the EVO oil sprayer.

Sorry I just saw your reply. I have not tried to bake bread in the oven. I have not tried to steam veggies in it either but I will now. I have air fried frozen sweet potato fries which came out crispy. I reheat pizza and it comes out well. I always use it to roast potatoes and bake chicken dishes....I have not tried the dehydrate function either.
