Debra Wink was Macy on the old BC...some here may remember her by that name. Many of Macy's recipes got posted here. Just enter Macy in the Search box on the main page and scroll a ways down and you can find many of them.

Her pineapple juice sourdough starter can be found here:

BakerAunt...I am able to get on Bob's Red Mill site just fine and it stays up. There are several flours and such that are out of stock and some bulk orders only.

All Illinois schools close Tues. thru 3/30 and that will cause a terrific run on grocery stores. Colleges are closed locally with online classes for now.

Summers with kids not in school cause grocery stores to plan for the extra foods sold. But this just happened out of the blue. Our and other school districts filed yesterday, Saturday, a state document waiver so schools can fix a lunch and a breakfast for free thru this time of school closings. Locations will have to be worked out for handing out the meals off of school campus locations. They do not want people in the school buildings as they are doing deep cleanings while empty of kids.

Evansville, IN schools will also be handing out free lunch/breakfast meals for the kids.

I order each week from Walmart.com and the pickings are indeed getting slimmer. I got an order last Mon. that was what I needed but today they are out of most anything shoppers would want. Lots of items are store pickup rather that free NextDay delivery with $ 35.00 order. They likely ran out of shipping boxes.

I've never been to one of these stores but would love to visit one. RandyD used to talk of going to one where he bought Morello cherries. My son has one in his town in St. Louis county and there is one in Creve Coeur, MO not far from him. I asked him why there were two stores so close together and he said the number of traffic lights. He said people hate being stuck at traffic lights and won't travel to places where they get stuck so long so this warrants the two so close together. He buys a lot of things there.

We have a marijuana grow facility in our tiny county. Ataraxia is the name and it has been in operation for a few years. It was one of six, I think, facilities in our state licensed to grow medical grade marijuana. When the state was talking of legalizing it for rec use, Ataraxia said they'd hire 450-500 new employees and add several new greenhouses to keep up with demand. The greenhouses look like row houses in a long string now. Folks who work there say their families tell them they smell like skunk.

It was unbelievable the cash spent the first day and week of sales in our state.

We live in good old Illinois. I'm sure our vehicle insurance bills will follow an upward pricing trend...we just got one yesterday and it was up for no reason on our part. A TV ad says marijuana can remain in the body for 30 days.

I think just Illinois and Michigan have legalized it so far.

My husband drove a school bus for 39 years. About 1990, the CDL drivers' license law applied to all semi drivers, school bus drivers and many more categories of commercial drivers.

All CDL drivers are subject to random drug tests. Many companies have a 'you fail, you are gone' policy.

Many years ago, a semi driver in a western state failed a drug test. He was not on drugs and they asked him many questions. He'd had poppyseed dressing at a salad bar the day before. So the word got out to avoid poppyseed anything or the drug test will detect opiates.

We always avoided me baking poppyseed scones and muffins as we didn't want an issue with it.

When my husband quit driving a school bus he said now I can eat lemon poppyseed muffins and scones in peace.

We love those Allen's Italian green beans, they come in a larger can than regular green beans, it seems.

When I was in grade school, our schools got a lot of mutton as government commodities. Our cooks made barbecued mutton for sandwiches and I thought it was good. It was somewhat sweet, likely from the barbecue ingredients. My husband said he, too, had mutton for sandwiches at school and liked it very much.
