I baked a loaf of white bread from Moomies Burger buns recipe but subbed potato water and part buttermilk for the liquid, cut the yeast as BakerAunt said to 2 teaspoons and added in a half cup of leftover mashed potatoes. It turned out great. It was a little soft when I turned out to shape had to knead in about a half cup of flour.I baked it in a 9x5 and it rose to 1 inch above pan.Baked it for 30 minutes it has a good crust and a good crumb, light.I buttered it when it came out and no squishing when turned out.Happy here, had some with toast and fig jam and it hit the spot!I haven't baked a lot lately so I was happy!
I baked a pork roast with dripping made a gravy to go over mashed potatoes and corn.

BakerAunt my mom always made pear preserves, but ours was the green ones and she cooked them down and at the end of cooking added in a can of crushed pineapple and they were always so good.I make them and one of my girlfriends told me she put them over ice cream. One of my dads favorite on toast.
Burgers sound interesting Navlys. We've been on sandwich kick here again bologna and cheese.
BakerAunt I cooked the figs down with sugar and I had some sugar and lemon jello powder that I had in the pantry from making a rolled cookie awhile back so I added that at the end of cooking and it thickened it up really well.I just jarred it up in a pint jar and it sealed as usual.I heard it pop so I know it sealed.I never do the water bath on them.I only had a 16 oz.cool whip bowl of figs so I only got one jar. They turned out really pretty color looks more like strawberry jam because the figs were so dark and very sweet.I mashed the figs up well then added the equal amount of sugar and cooked them down till good and thickened. My mother always left her figs whole but I like them mashed up more like jam.I've never cooked that small amount before but that's what I had.
Have fun Chocomouse!
Tonight I had toast from the bread I baked yesterday with jam for supper and it was all good!
