I made Blueberry Pie Bars. I had some blueberries that I had frozen a while ago and they worked fine. The dessert was a hit at our wine event.

My neighbor brought over some figs from her fig tree. They needed to be used pronto. I found a recipe for pork tenderloin with figs and onions. It was a "Simply" online recipe. Dinner was impressive and delicious.

Yesterday was turkey tetrazzini with leftover dry turkey breast meat which I hydrated in chicken broth. It was pretty good. Tonight will be bacon and cheese omelets with hash browns and english muffins with jam.

We had lamb loin chops so I got to use up some of my thyme and rosemary as they marinated in garlic, salt, spices and olive oil. I grill them on my grill pan for 3 min per side and then bake them in a 400* oven for 8-10 minutes. I can put my russet potatoes in the oven earlier and all is done a the same time. I paid only $5.99lb at Costco and they were nice and thick.

Today the 16th is our 45th anniversary. That day was 80 degrees in NH. More like summer than fall. Technically it was summer. My bridesmaids had velvet gowns and I don't think the restaurant where we had the reception had air conditioning. Oh well. I guess September marriages last the longest!

My neighbor gave me 6 down and out bananas. I had 2 of my own. I had a recipe that called for 4 bananas so I made two individual recipes. Too much work. I may have underbaked them as well.

I decided to make a turkey breast in my crockpot. I made the "Recipe Tin Eats" recipe before and it turned out great. Different crockpot different results. Even on low my crockpot cooks high. I know how all the newer pots cook high for safety reasons but no one ever got sick using my old crockpot. So my solution is to go to the thrift store and find an old crockpot (or slow cooker) or keep the cover to my present pot slightly ajar!

Now there's a challenge: uses for zucchini relish. How about putting it in potato salad instead of pickle relish!

I make chocolate peanut clusters for my husband. I usually use white chocolate(from TJ's) dark chocolate and milk chocolate melted together. I found these Hershey cinnamon chips that were over due for use . I threw them in the mix. They really do not melt. I had to smush them on the side of the pan. Sometimes being frugal does not pay off. I guess they taste ok according to hubby.

ps: I used Sara Moulton's tip to squish the parchment paper to make it easier to set it on the cookie sheet. It works.
