Old timers like my Mom use to throw their cast iron pans in the fire to get the cooked on thick crust off the bottoms then you would reseason them after that.

November 29, 2018 at 10:59 pm in reply to: What are you baking the week of November 25, 2018? #14201I made pie crusts today Sylvia's perfect pie crust it makes 3 but I up the flour to 4 cups and add a stick of butter and one extra tablespoon of water and get 4 crusts..It's a very good recipe and am always happy with it.I also made a apple pie with honey crisp apples it was really good,set up nice and the crusts were good and flaky, baked it in clear glass pyrex pie plate.

I agree Len,I"m sorry for all the people that have lost their homes and this saddens me for Gina.I have read many posts before on the baking circle when she was an active baker.

I baked KAF pumpkin pie that has black pepper in it(I've baked this one before) and it was very good.I cheated and used a store bought crust,had too much filling for the deep dish pie crust so I baked 2 custard cups of the filling only 20 min baking for them and the pie took about 45 min looks good no cracking and I'm eating one of the custard cups now and it's hitting the spot with a dollop of whip cream.
I couldn't read the article either.
