Last of vegetable soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.
Tonight we had fried cubed pork, seasoned green beans and baked sweet potatoes.
I made stew beef and gravy, rice, garden peas and carrots with hoe cake bread. The way I do this bread it's self rising flour with a dab of oil stirred up with milk to make like a thick pancake batter and cook on griddle or fry pan till browned on one side and flip like pancakes. It tastes like biscuit bread but no rolling and it's fast and easy, good for sopping syrup.
Today I made a small pot of hamburger vegetable soup and we're finishing off the pimento cheese with sandwiches.
Tonight we had hamburger steak with caramelized onions and a baked potato.
We had breakfast for supper..sausage,grits and eggs.
Taco salad tonight our old standby.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes, time is flying by!
No cooking for me today. It's my birthday #64 and my sister came and we played cards all day.Got lots of calls from friends and family, ate cake and then we went out for supper at a local seafood restaurant.I feel very blessed.
I baked a lemon blueberry cake from Jennycan cook,I liked it ,no mixer needed and it's not too sweet, baked in 8x4 inch pan topped with a light drizzle. It called for lemon zest and my lemons had dried up sorta on the outside so I skipped that and added in about a tablespoon of lemon jello, all tasted ok.

For my mac-n- cheese it's just cooked macaroni, lots of cheese sharp cheddar, one beaten egg,and a big spoon of sour cream with a tablespoon or two of butter and salt and pepper.I stir it up and top with more cheese lightly and bake.
Chocomouse we ate a lot of Velvetta when I was growing up.Your mac and cheese with the tomato soup and velvetta sounds good to me.

BakerAunt I don't know why but I've found dry beans take a lot longer to cook than before, even the frozen green butter beans I cooked tonight takes a long time to soften. No telling what goes in our food we buy, fertilizers, fast growing stuff etc.We have lots of vegetable farming around in our county and it's amazing to see how fast they grow bell peppers and other vegetables, then all that water is going in the ground.
BakerAunt I agree about streusel topping ,next time I may omit it and just do a light drizzle on top.
I can't imagine baking enough to buy by the case (Big smiley face) of anything, but y'all bake alot more than I do.I do love to bake but for the two of us it's not very much.
Chocomouse both coffee cakes looks like something I'd like.
