Italiancook...Measuring the flour by the scoop, then sifting it will yield more flour.
Here is our favorite Cranberry Salad/Relish...I always made it for my husband's school kids and they loved it:
Many years ago, I used to have our local grocery store order me two cases of 24 bags of cranberries to freeze for use throughout the year. There are so many great ways to use them.
Three weeks ago today, I emailed PaddyL and never heard a word back. Had been thinking of her and Tom. I was worried when I never got a reply...so now I know she has not been well.
On September 10, I emailed jej and gave her a link to all of her almost 100 recipes I posted here for her and have not heard a word from her, either.
skeptic7...you can look for an 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of any of KAF's emails. Click that link and follow thru and you'll be rid of them all. I did that when they cut us off and I felt so good doing that.
Here is what Bill Penzey says about keeping qualities of vanilla extract:
What has me most concerned about the coming Vanilla price increase is that for many
it will be a reason to stop using it. Vanilla is so much at the heart of how love
passes down from one generation to the next. Don't let that chain be broken. Vanilla
Extract lasts 2-3 years, easy.

Back in 2003, I bought many flavor powders from KAF...16-fold Vanilla Powder, Cake Doughnut Flavor Powder, Butter Cinnamon Powder, Maple Powder, Sweet Dough Flavor Powder, Butter Vanilla Powder...these came in a heavy plastic small container with a screw-on lid. I have kept them in my freezer and they are all just as nice as the day I got them. I used some of the 16-fold vanilla a few days ago and was surprised at how nice it still is.I now buy the Cook's Vanilla Powder in a large jar and have never had its quality fade.
I wish I could still find many of the flavor powders like those KAF sold long ago but have not been successful in locating them.

Carol...I went to this site and looked at several things. The Home page says free shipping first order and with $ 65.00 order after that. I would not want to have to get a $ 65.00 order for free shipping.
The sizes of the products are too big for just the two of us. I think the Nutella was (2) 33.5 oz for whatever price...that is way too big for us to have around. The 13 oz. gets us in trouble, LOL!
I saw 35 oz boxes of cereals. Again, way too big for us. Our weather is so humid that I have to re-bag any cereals or crackers to keep them from going soggy.
I did not find the 28 oz Jif that I buy but I might not have looked long enough.
I think for a family with lots of kids, this would save some $$$ over regular grocery store prices and save the hassle of running here and there shopping.
We used to have a Target less than 20 miles away but they closed it and opened two SuperTargets 70 miles one way from us. I think a Costco is a three hour drive for us.
Back on the day of this post, I read a lot about the deal. Wal-Mart said they'd keep jet.com as a separate business for which I am very grateful. What a deal for the jet.com owner...he is to stay on for quite awhile to assist WalMart on his set-up. Free shipping with $ 35.00 order and 2 day shipping. They have always done a great job with my orders. Every now and then, jet.com has a 20% or 25% off on 500 or so name brand items. I just hope WalMart does not mess any of this up. My orders have come from NV and KS and by FedEx, usually. A camera came by UPS and a small pkg. came by USPS.
Here is my favorite vanilla place since the early 2000s. The company owns its own vanilla plantations. They have free shipping on all US orders currently.
For many years, I have used powdered vanilla and prefer it to liquid vanilla. No big price fluctuations with the powdered vanilla.
One article said vanilla ice cream was even set to go up due to the price hike of vanilla.
Penzeys 16 oz. vanilla was going from $ 59.95 to $ 79.95 according to the email...quite an increase, 33%.
I got in on the last of the cocoa story, but some kind of worms were eating the leaves off the plants and destroying the plants.
The inflation figures are way off in the ditch and the way they calculate social security benefits increases or decreases are beyond stupid many times.
Jozy was more active on the old BC as far as posting. She never did like the new BC and often emailed me for help finding things she needed or remembered but could not find herself. She emailed several others she enjoyed visiting with and always asked me to let her know if someone was having a hard time. She has a house in Seattle, WA and Lee has a house in Easton, WA up in the mountains, where they live most of the time.
I'm sorry for your loss of beloved Sugar, Joan.
I emailed RandyD and this is what he said about the storm:
Sarah, the eye went right over us but it the cool of the night had slowed
it just enough that our county and town escaped pretty much unharmed.
thanks so much for asking.Happy Cindy enjoyed her 67th birthday. When things calm down here maybe in a week or so I'll send her a nice email.
Chris...I am so saddened to learn of this awful health tragedy and will send many healing thoughts and prayers for all of you thru this ordeal.
We have been dealing with a health issue of my husband since August 10 and he saw a specialist yesterday for the proper treatment. The meds have horrible side effects and his food choices will be intolerable so I have just about pulled all of my hair out. He is so stubborn and that makes it even harder on me. Living with him for 49 plus years makes me keenly aware of how difficult he is. My blood pressure has always been so low so that is a good thing with all the worries.
I thought when we got his cancer at bay for now that things would slow down but no.
wonky...this lady's name is Judy Lund and she lives in Willard, WI, I think. They live in a forest of some kind that belongs to the gov't. She and her husband are on the town council or something like that and she was very active on getting some sort of pipeline from going thru their property and messing up her bird watching habitat. She has bird banders come to her place often to band various species and they band hummers a lot, too.
Our yard mowing has been a plague this year with the horrendous rains. It takes six hours to mow and string trim it all but we gave up on mowing it all and just go for what folks can see.
I had a hummer feeder just one year and battled our honey bees and yellow jackets constantly. I felt bad not putting a feeder up but we have a 3 acre yard with so many flowering trees and flower beds so they can feast on that. SO good to see you here!
