RiversideLen, when I make chocolate chip cookies it's always Alton's the puffy. They're the best.
BakerAunt, I've never made pfeffernusse but would love to. We always had them at Christmas from the bakery.
Baked some chocolate chips for mom, shortbread cookies with a cherry in the middle for my husband and the cream cheese cookies. Had Johnny Mathis singing Christmas songs on the stereo while it flurried outside. π₯°β dropped off some cookies for my friend.Skeptic7, it slowed down around 9 so I started clearing. What a bear! The snow was moderately heavy and high. Took me 2 hours. Ugh anyway, it stopped snowing and the sun came out. Still cold out, though, and going down to the teens tonight.
I always have powdered milk on hand, too. Use some when making yogurt and bread.

14 inches so far. Snow supposed to stop by 10. Shoveled a path on the patio to the lawn for the dog. The snow is taller than him! Had coffee and stollen and going out soon to snowblow. Looks pretty!
Joan, I'm glad it all worked out. Take one day at a time, that's my motto. I bet we don't get all this snow. They rev everyone up and nothing happens. Lol

December 13, 2020 at 12:17 pm in reply to: What are you Baking the week of December 13, 2020? #27767Made 16 cinnamon buns this morning with cream cheese icing on the side. Dropped off 4 for my friend, we ate some. Only 8 left! Glad I bought that 12 x 12 pan from kaf years ago.
Hi, BakerAunt. I googled soaking flaxseed overnight and got a lot of hits. This one talks about soaking making them more digestible and absorbing nutrients.
https://healthyeating.sfgate.com/flax-5613.htmlI made 8 loaves of stollen during the past week and a half and have enough fresh yeast for 4 more. This time I'm putting marzipan in 2 of them.
My friend knows a professional baker who makes a lot of gingerbread houses each Christmas season -- 300 last year but only 150 this year due to covid. She gave me 1.75 lbs of gingerbread dough! All I have to do is roll it out, cut out cookies, and bake. Works for me!! I love gingerbread. My nephew sent us a gluhwein kit which had big gingerbread cookies in it. I've been enjoying the heck out of them.- This reply was modified 4 years ago by kimbob.

November 25, 2020 at 11:40 am in reply to: What are you Cooking the week of November 22, 2020? #27506Bought a 6.5 lb turkey breast the end of October. Made a pumpkin pie, boiled shrimp for shrimp cocktail, and cornbread this morning. Tomorrow will be stuffing, cranberry sauce, a veggie, rolls, gravy. Not making potatoes. There's only 3 of us. How much can you eat?! Lol. Champagne, too, of course.
Made the kaf maple cornbread. Light, moist with a subtle maple flavor. Went well with the chili and I'll be using some in the Thanksgiving stuffing.
