Tonight we had Oyster Stew.Pricey they are for a pint and a half I paid $31.20.But they are one of my sisters favorite. We had stew and a few raw.
I have looked at the recipe before Chocomouse,I'll check it out again.Today I baked some sugar cookies that was on sugar bag from Publix.I made the dough last night and rolled them in logs, sliced and sprinkled with red sugar today. They puffed up but didn't spread out at all and tastes just OK.Nothing special. My sister came for a visit today so they were baked and ready for coffee when she arrived.
Chocomouse those rolls sounds good!
Tonight we had fried cubed steak and I made gravy, sour cream mashed potatoes and seasoned green beans.Glad you had a good vacation BakerAunt!Welcome back!
Tonight we had a smoked pork chop, broccoli and cheese with a baked sweet potato.
Tonight we had simple eggs, rice and toast.
Left overs here tonight hamburger vegetable soup and pimento cheese sandwiches.
I made pulled pork for sandwiches and home cut fries, snacks is a variety of cheese and crackers.Ham sounds good Mike ginger ale is my favorite drink.Never had that marinade on ham.
Today I made another loaf of sourdough bread recipe one I've baked a lot from all.recipes.com called Sourdough 1 by Becky Richardson it turned out much lighter and better taste than one I did this past week. This recipe you mix up the night before and let rise overnight then knead next day and pan up for another rise.My starter did well with this recipe, the bread baked a pretty brown crust and crumb was very good.Recipe calls for making 2 loaves and I always cut it in half to make one loaf.
We had Taco Salad tonight.
Pimento cheese this is the way I learned to make it.I get one half pound of yellow american cheese from deli and get them to cut a chunk not sliced.I take that home and grate that, then I add 1 small jar of diced pimentos that's about 4 ounces with all the liquid- do not drain- then I add about one half cup of mayonnaise maybe more and lots of black pepper and stir up till creamy. When I made mine I ended up with a little over 2 cups. This is the way we use to make it at a school I worked at many years ago.Hope you like it.
Today I made a small pot of hamburger vegetable soup with fresh pimento cheese sandwiches.
Tonight we had chicken tenders, stewed squash and thickened potatoes.
Today I tried a new recipe Basic sourdough bread from King Arthur.I've never used so much starter in a recipe it used 2 cups to 2 and a half cups of flour. It called for some yeast but I didn't add that as I wanted true sourdough. So it took longer to rise but that's OK.I started at 8:30am and had it baked at 4:30pm.It was very light in color but done and had good chewy crust and soft inside.Taste was good so I'm happy, only thing is when I formed a log for the 9x5 pan when it rose it split on top but that's OK too.I'll keep working at it.I've tried several recipes and haven't found one I want to say will be my go to recipe.I slashed it on top but I don't think it rose enough as it was just over the top of the pan.

Tonight I used all the left overs for lima bean soup, chopped 2 carrots,1 rib celery, one half cup onion and the tomato gravy cooked that with 2 chicken bullion cubes and a little garlic till soft, added the beans and rice and simmered about an hour.Hit the spot and all the left overs are gone.
