December 25, 2018 at 6:20 pm in reply to: What are You Cooking the Week of December 23, 2018? #14398We had dressing, turnips, sweet potato souffle with marshmallow topping, ambrosia, corn bread and chocolate cake. For the meat my husband requested pork chops so that's what we had,it was all good.
Our son is enjoying all this country cooking he's getting and I'm enjoying him.
By the way my turnips were already cooked in the freezer and dressing also and it all tasted like I had just baked it so I was very pleased and a lot less stressed.-

Merry Christmas to all of you.
Our son came in Christmas Eve and will be here through Jan.3.So we've been enjoying him.I baked his favorite chocolate cake which uses a cup of hot water and replace it with hot black coffee and use the special dark cocoa so it's very chocolaty.Besides baking corn bread that's all the baking except for dressing and sweet potato souffle with marshmallow topping.December 21, 2018 at 4:31 pm in reply to: What are You Cooking the Week of December 16, 2018? #14371We had Oyster stew tonight on this nasty cold rainy day.

December 17, 2018 at 3:39 pm in reply to: What are You Cooking the Week of December 16, 2018? #14350I made a small hamburger steak with caramelized onions, cooked a small half head of cabbage with ham chunks out of the freezer(still some of that ham) and cubed potatoes like for potato salad drained most of water then added some butter and sour cream stirred up and it was like chunky mashed potatoes, went well with the cabbage.
I feel for you Chocomouse about the stopped up drain, very annoying! The sheet-pan meal sounds good!
BakerAunt I enjoy every ones input on your recipes and ideas also, thanks.
No cooking here tonight just leftover soup and sandwich.-

December 15, 2018 at 10:31 pm in reply to: What are You Cooking the Week of December 9, 2018? #14341I used left overs to make lima bean soup.Cut up one carrot, two ribs of celery, some onion, added a little garlic, two chicken bullion cubes with 2 cups of water, left over tomato gravy cooked that till all tender then added cooked lima beans and when that was all done threw in about a cup and half of cooked rice.It was very good and all left overs are gone.Got just enough left for soup and a sandwich for later.
