You can buy a glove that protects against knife cuts. I've seen them for sale in Restaurant supply stores. I have one and plan to use it next time I try to debone a turkey. A friend bought one when he got a mandoline.
I knew this one! Its amazing how people can hurt themselves by not taking sensible precautions.

I had a whisk that was suppose to work by pushing up and down -- it was too hard to clean. I have an egg beater that works but it has wavy sides and is harder to clean than the one with smooth sides. I've given up on the triple screen shifters with a push and release type handle, the rotating one is far easier to clean. A friend gave me glass tubes for baking bread and I haven't even tried it.

I guess one problem about repurposing these is to find out how easy it would be to take apart and clean.
Its the fault of the pizza, and cheese sandwiches and macaroni and cheese, and omelets. I got it by good luck.

September 15, 2019 at 5:55 pm in reply to: What are You Baking the Week of September 8, 2019? #18194I baked a yeasted banana bread, according to my recipe it was based on "Banana Feather Loaf" on page 271 in "The Bread Bible" by Rosy Levy Bernabaum. It has 2 mashed bananas and buttermilk. The recipe was adapted by me to use all whole wheat flour and no additional sweetener. I had made the previous week a normal baking soda quick banana bread for a friend who was diabetic and wanted to see what this would taste like it it didn't have sugar or honey. It had a very subtle taste and a smooth texture.
The previous week's normalish banana bread had a rougher texture, I think thats because the banana was just mashed and not kneaded throughly into the dough. It tasted nice with cream cheese, a bit boring without it.I guessed correctly.
Missed this.
I missed that. There weren't many bees around this spring, but now that the Chinese Chives are in bloom, I see more bees visiting those flowers. Also a lot of butterflies.
Happy Birthday Mike.
I bake my English Muffins and the dough is about as firm as a normal bread dough, definately firmer than a focaccio dough. I don't get the big holes and I really don't miss them. How much butter do you need on an English Muffin anyway? A smooth surface makes it easier to spread jelly.I missed that. I had it narrowed down to two and chose the wrong one.
On English Muffins, I try to divide the dough evenly. I normally start by forming into a log and try to subdivide into 9 pieces, but it never works out perfectly. I always have several muffins over size and several undersize.
I baked currant - candied orange peel quick bread in my slw cooker. It took 2 1/2 hours.
