Sweet Italian sausage, peppers and onions and maybe a little sauce for my hub.

Italian cook, I'm with you about baking for people. I would bring goodies to the library alot but they're closed and I don't feel comfortable giving stuff to the neighbors, either. That's why I've been doing a little small batch baking or freezing some of the cookie dough from a regular batch. I'm going through baking withdrawal!
As far as remembering names, Bakeraunt, you're right. Lol

I went to stopnshop this morning since I haven't shopped in a month (and I don't want to go for another month!!). Wearing that mask is suffocating and fogs up my glasses, but gotta wear it. I went in and over to the lunch meat display and a woman there asked if she was in my way. I said no, no, you're fine, thanks. Then she said 'I know you. How are you!?'. I said 'great. How r u?!'. I have no idea who she was. We all look like bandits. Lol. I worked 6 yrs at our town library so I see a lot of patrons in town and know who most of them are even with the mask on. But this nice lady, no idea. It's a strange new world.

Thanks S_Wirth and Joan!! I'm not that enthused with no knead bread but those 2 come out good and are the only no kneads I make.

Went to stopnshop this morning and they had blueberries buy 1 get 1 free. Made Canterbury blueberry muffins. I cut out the recipe years and years ago from Family Circle magazine. Swirth was good enough to move the recipe here from the kaf site. Thanks, Swirth!

Bakers authority website has saf instant yeast in stock but I bet the shipping is a killer. My niece-in-law ordered a 50 lb bag of flour from them a couple weeks ago because she couldn't find any where she lives in NJ. Said the shipping was high. She was going to split the 50 lbs with her mom. Guess it depends how desperate you are!

My mother always made Christmas stollen using yeast cakes. It definitely makes the texture different than dry yeast. I was finally able to find fresh cake yeast this year at a market that has specialty items and they didn't have much of it. I made stollen with dry and fresh yeast and the stollen made with fresh yeast was better. There's just something about it -- a little moister, springier and a bit of a cakelike texture.

Yep. BakerAunt, that's it. Nice small batch baking.

That's it! I searched this site for wacky cake instead of funny cake. 😁 Thank you so much, swirth! Cake tastes great.

I would love to grow tomatoes and lettuce but there are too many critters here to do so without some kind of fence. I'm content with my herbs and visit the farmers market every Saturday June through October. One year the squirrels were eating my geraniums! I have woods around me. Why can't they eat the stuff there? Lol
Have fun with your garden, Mike. It'll be great in the summer.

And nice to see you, too, Mike. I was typing while you were posting. I know mrsm is still around because I emailed her a couple yrs ago about one of her recipes. I think I googled and found her. Lol Google is an amazing tool. Stay safe!

Hey, chocomouse and swirth!! Wow! Happy to hear from you. Swirth, you put my recipes here? Woman, you sure were busy. How long ago was the old baking circle? Seems like a lifetime ago. You know, I made moomies buns the other day because I wanted to make hamburgers for dinner and couldn't face putting on a mask and going to the store. Sigh So I was thinking about the old baking circle and found this site today. I was so excited. Thank God I always have enough flour and yeast to bake with. Lol. You all keep safe, too. Don't know how much longer we have to hunker down but this is getting old.

Well, today I made a loaf of whole wheat which I haven't baked in a while. Lately I've been making an overnight no knead cranberry pecan bread that I tweaked to my satisfaction after buying it at an artisan bread shop for 7 bucks for a small loaf! Glad I can make it now that we're all stuck at home. Had a kaf eggnog bundt cake mix from the holidays, made that on the weekend and it was pretty darn good. Wish I had bought more than one! 99% of the time I bake from scratch but I have a some kaf mixes here just in case.😁 made garlic croutons today, too.
Wanted to say hi to everyone from the old baking circle!!
