Yeah Mike when I make Brunswick Stew it's hard for me to make a little , I also put 3 qt.containers in the freezer today. My pot is a big one too.
Tonight we had meatloaf patties, macaroni and cheese sliced tomatoes and green butter beans.
Has anyone ever had hamburger meat that would not stay together?I buy 80-20 and it was previously frozen but it would not stay together.I had onion, peppers, oatmeal bread ,egg and seasoning etc.So I made 4 patties but when it baked it still fell apart when you'd stick your fork in it. Oh well we ate it anyway..
Tonight's supper was more Brunswick Stew.I've got about a gallon to put in the freezer.
I cut the sourdough this morning and was very happy with the taste and crumb.
Chocomouse I like that recipe and when I make it I sub a cup of wheat too, makes it so good.
Sorry about your cookies Aaron ,they almost look like the lace cookies you roll on a tube when they come out of the oven. They were probably good anyway.
Yesterday we had more Brunswick Stew and tonight we had cubed venison steak in onion gravy with rice and creamed corn.
Len your baked chicken looks perfect!
I made another batch of sourdough tonight, this time I weighed everything and I did 3 cups white ap and 1 cup wheat. It's sitting overnight on the counter.I still had to add more water than called for.
We had an easy supper ham sandwich and fries.
We're having Brunswick Stew, made a big ole pot so plenty for us and to share.
I was very pleased with the sourdough bread recipe, I really like the smaller loaf and taste was good.
Nice looking pea pods Mike and the stir fry looks scrumptious.
I made another batch of sourdough tried another recipe ,this one doesn't use milk only water and a little oil.It was suppose to be a 9x5 pan but I cut it in half for two 8x4 pans and I have two nice loaves.I used half whole wheat and half bread flour so I'll see how it tastes in the morning.I gave one loaf to my sis in law.I did weigh them after baking they were both over a pound ..like 18 oz. one was 19 oz.I did have to add a little more water as the wheat flour soaked it up.Tonight we had Oyster Stew so good on this cold night.
I agree BakerAunt.
No ants for me either.
Tonight we had spanish rice with a lettuce & tomato salad with bread -n- butter.I'm enjoying the sourdough bread my husband will only eat Nature's Own Honey Wheat.
Glad Diane is better!
Mike good wishes sent your way to Diane ,hope she feels better soon.
Tonight we had fried cubed pork, rice and left over black eyed peas.
This is the recipe I tried and was happy with it.The bread rose on the counter overnight in the pan and I baked it this morning, good crumb, my loaf looks exactly like the photo about 4 inches tall in the middle and tastes really good.I will sub one cup whole wheat for one cup of white next time.
When I got the starter out of the fridge it had hooch on top ,the starter was like modeling clay so I stirred it all back together fed it good it was still sluggish, so I put some in another jar like a half cup and fed it and after 2 feedings it was ready, all bubbly and had doubled. My original jar took some time to get right but after it set out a couple days it went to bubbling good so fed it put back in fridge it rose in the jar overnight..
I do not throw away the discard,I feed it and use it.
