I also had to google the term as I am not familiar with it or the process. I will be interested to know how the processes effect the taste of the food. The pictures show some interesting dishes. I will be following this thread with much curiosity!
December 1, 2016 at 5:03 pm in reply to: Did You Cook Anything Interesting the Week of November 20, 2016? #5761I have a recipe for fruitcake that I used to make back in the '70's that is moist and delicious probably due to the fact that it is soaked in brandy and aged for a couple of weeks. I like it but the family has decided they don't. I haven't made it in years.
I saw that advertised a couple of days ago and put it on my "to watch list". It will be interesting to see how it compares to the other versions.
October 10, 2016 at 4:09 pm in reply to: Coming Soon: A report on my week at Chocolate Boot Camp #5042I'm looking forward to your report on the chocolate boot camp. I thoroughly enjoy all your blog posts. Chocolate isn't one of my favorites but there are some interesting things made with it. I need to learn to make something other than brownies!!!
This is one I must try very soon. My granddaughter is vegetarian (at the moment) and I'm always looking for something tasty for lunch. She and my daughter come over on Sundays for a visit and this soup sounds perfect. The ingredients are already in my pantry! Thanks for posting all these recipes.
The other recipe I tried, didn't in the least resemble English Muffins, in looks or taste. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got it.:( Eventually, I will try this one and report back.
BakerAunt, thank you for posting your experience with the English Muffin Bread. I tried a different recipe a while back, and was not happy with the texture and taste. I have Bernard Clayton's cookbook and will try this one with your suggestions/changes.
I don't do a lot of edible gardening, but I planted grape tomatoes and bell peppers along with some green onions. I also have several herbs both in pots and in the ground scattered around the yard some for cooking some just for fragrance. It's wonderful to walk around and brush my hand across them to smell the fragrance in the air. And my three blueberry bushes are loaded this year along with a good crop of lemons. All the rain we've had this year has certainly been beneficial.
I am happy to say I just registered and logged in with no "glitches". Many thanks to you, Mike, for stepping up and creating another place for all of us to meet and share information. I may not post often, but like many others, I check in every day and have learned so much from all of you.
