I made a large batch of coleslaw so it's hotdog and slaw. I just put a 10 pound shoulder pork roast in the oven for pulled pork this weekend this is how it looked before cooking. My son told me how to bake it in the oven overnight and I made one for Memorial Day that turned out awesome. I rubbed it all over heavy with Dijon mustard and then gave it a good cover of "Holy Cow BBQ rub Meat Church "

That sounds so yummy, Joan. Coleslaw is in my future as I found a nice head of cabbage at Kroger today.

We did our big recycling run and shopping trip over in the larger city near us on Thursday, so we had a late lunch after we got home. It amazes both of us that these trips can be so tiring. Fortunately, dinner was easy tonight. I made chicken broth in the afternoon, using the bones from last night's chicken breasts as well as some in the freezer. The leftover chicken from last night became part of a stir-fry with farro cooked in some of the broth, and carrots, celery, green onion, a medley of different colored small bell peppers, mushrooms, and kale. We have leftovers for perhaps two more meals

BakerAunt and Len your stir fry makes me hungry, I love them. I baked the pork roast and it turned out really good, my house smelled divine last night. I'll have a BBQ tonight with coleslaw. Here's my BBQ.It had really good bark on it.

Oh, that barbecue looks so good, Joan. It is alas, one of those foods I cannot feed to my husband, whose digestive system cannot handle strong spices.

We had more of the stir-fry for dinner on Friday. That gave me time and energy to focus on my baking project.

On Friday I made stir fry again, but this time with more variety of vegetables as I got groceries yesterday. It consisted of broccoli, carrot, green beans, sugar snap peas, sweet pepper and left over pork tenderloin. Had it with noodles.

Joan, your pork roast looks tender and tasty.

For our first night back after 10 nights on the road, we went with a rotisserie chicken from Sams.

Tomorrow we will be having Chicago hot dogs (with Vienna hot dogs and buns bought in Illinois) for lunch and Italian Beef Sandwiches (for me) for supper, with a kit we bought at a Portillo's location on the way home. Also bought some Rocky Mountain chocolates and some chocolates from a local store in Galena Il. (Rocky Mountain chocolates are always good, the ones from the local store ranged from OK to pretty good.)

Came back with 4 full coolers: One with 16.5 pounds of Callebaut semi-sweet chocolate callets and other chocolates, another with the meat, one with about 25 bottles of wine from various wineries in Illinois and Pennsylvania and the 4th one was beverages and snack foods for the road.

Last Sunday we had a graduation celebration brunch with a number of Kelita's classmates and friends and their parents. The restaurant (Casbah) served some breakfast pastries that included a sumac mini-muffin, sweet but not overpoweringly so. I bought some ground sumac berries at Penzey's in Pittsburgh and am going to see if I can come up with a recipe for them. I'm guessing there was some buttermilk in them, and there are recipes for buttermilk sumac muffins online.

Welcome home, Mike. You certainly made the most of your trip!

I also brought back 50 pounds of Ardent Mills pastry flour. For $26, couldn't really pass that up. I also got 3 more 16x22 (2/3 size) sheet pans and a few smallware items.

The car was REALLY full for the trip home!

Our cat is VERY glad we're home, he's been on my lap most of the last two days.
