Gold Medal flour recall:
Also affects some King Arthur AP flour.
Mike, how do you know the recall also affects KAF AP? I just checked their website and searched "recall," and didn't come up with anything except recipes.
If you click on the URL in the first post in the thread, you'll see it references recalls by KAF and Aldi that were issued back in June, as well as one for Pillsbury. These all appear to be related to issues at an ADM mill.
Does anyone know, has the incidence of flour recalls increased as we use more unbleached flour? Would bleaching the flour kill the e coli/salmonella?
I don't believe bleaching would kill either E. coli or salmonella. It generally comes from contaminated wheat. As long as whatever the flour is used for results in it getting fully cooked, the flour should be safe. But between problems with flour and with eggs,
eating cookie dough just isn't safe any more.
