Baked a Lemon Chess Pie,Cherry Pie and chocolate cake all turned out good and I have really gotten the pie crusts down pat.The chocolate cake makes a small cake 8 inch layer so I double it for a whole cake very chocolaty tastes like devil food Recipe from Just a pinch called Lil Chocolate Cake by Cassie and we love it.The pie crusts I've been making is called Sylvia's perfect Pie Crust it's very good makes 3- but I've added an extra cup of flour and a little extra water to give me 4.Reason being when I'd check them baking it was really greasy bubbling around edges and this takes care of that and still very flaky.I seem to have a better browning crust if I bake them in tin foil pans which I reuse over and over. What pan gives you a flakier and brown crust ? I have glass ,stainless and ceramic pans but truly like the tin foil.Wondering if I buy a thin tin pan will it do well?Got lots of baking to do this week.Forgot to say on the chocolate cake it calls for a cup of hot water and I sub black coffee for that and it ups the flavor and you'd never know it.Happy Baking.
Made a pot of Oyster Stew,Chili and Taco Salads.Had the chili over hotdogs with cheese, and to use the last up we had it over white rice.
I have a Kitchen Aid hand mixer and love it,very light, came with several different beaters which I use only regular ones.Has bread dough hooks I've never tried them as I don't think it's heavy duty enough for that.Mine is a 5 speed, very satisfied for light mixing as in cookies, potatoes, cakes.
I baked a Lemon Chess Pie from Mennonite Girls Can Cook and it was so good and smooth, loved it.Baked a chocolate pie it was just OK.
We celebrated our Thanksgiving on Wednesday (some family had to work Thanksgiving at a restaurant) so my part was baking pies.I made an apple, pumpkin, and 2-coconut pies all turned out well. Also baked a sweet potato souffle with marshmallows put on at the end of baking just to puff up a little. Was pleased with everything and I enjoyed making it.I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving we are all so blessed!Forgot to add the turkey that was baked was baked upside down and it was so moist, the best turkey I’ve ever had.I had heard of that before but never tried, well it worked!

BakerAunt I reuse my parchment also never had a problem.I take a paper towel and wipe away anything like crumbs and reuse.
I baked brownies from Mennonite Girls Can Cook and they were very good and fudgy.Baked corn bread. Not much baking.
Brownies and corn bread.... not much here.
We live out also and we only get one little girl every year.I worked with her mother years ago.She get's all the candy her mom brings her here and to her grandmothers home.
My starter is 5 years old,got the recipe from KAF and keep it refrigerated.I don't do regular feedings either, when I'm wanting to bake bread I take it out stir it up sometimes I throw some away sometime I don't .After about 3 or 4 feedings it's up to par and makes really good sourdough.I really like the flavor and like to make it half white and half wheat.
Brunswick Stew is a big thing around here in the south Mike.My Grandfather use to make a big cast iron kettle of it cooking with fire under it for all holidays in the cooler months. It has chicken and pulled pork with vegs,a sorta BBQ taste.I'll write down my recipe for you. This is half recipe and it still makes a lot.
Brunswick Stew
1-Chicken
1 1/2#-Pork
2 1/2#-Potatoes
1-can garden peas
1-can tomatoes
1-can green lima beans
3-ribs celery
1-can whole kernel corn
1#-onions
8-ounces catsup
1/2-cup worcestershire sauce
3-tbsp.sugar
hot sauce to taste (I usually do 1/4 cup Louisana less if you don't like spicy)
1 tbsp.vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
14-16 ounces BBQ sauceI boil chicken and pork together or pressure cook till done.Pull all meat off bone and save liquid. In liquid put your potatoes cut up to cook till almost done.Grind your onions and celery together and add to same cooking time as potatoes. When potatoes are almost done mash a little you want to leave them a little chunky. Then add all other ingredients and heat for a couple hours on low. This makes a thick stew and is really filling and good.We always ate this with crackers or bread.I have cheated before and used bought pulled pork from grocery store in a hurry. If it's ever too thin can add instant potato flakes. This was a big tradition in our family.Way back in the day they use to boil the whole hog head and scrape the meat ...not me though lol. This recipe makes a big stew pot for us and is better the next day or two.Just thought I'd share this with ya'll.This is the halved recipe.
