We've seen as many as six at a time at ours. It's pretty clear we have several pairs in the area, not sure if they're all Baltimore orioles, though. We may also be seeing some orchard orioles and possibly scarlet and western tanagers.
We have the Merlin bird identifier app on our iPhones, it identifies them by sound or picture, the sound finder finds quite a few birds we're not sure we're seeing and it could be false positives. It finds red wing blackbirds nearly every day and I can't really say I've seen any in town, I have seen them out on country roads, sitting on fence posts.
I don't do a lot of experimental baking in hot weather. I didn't do a lot of it this past winter, either, when hot weather wasn't my excuse. 🙂
The early plan was for burgers on the grill again tonight, it is currently 95 outside. But there's also a thunderstorm warning until 6:30 so we might be having dinner after that.
I will need to make semolina bread soon, but I think I'll wait a day, it is supposed to be in the 90's again today but the low 80's tomorrow.
We had tacos tonight.
Sweet and sour is kind of a classic pairing, but I'm not planning to run out to buy Oreos just to try it.
It's a little cooler here today than yesterday, mid 80's. Burgers on the grill is the plan.
I've made stuffing with gluten-free cornbread, it was pretty good. But the Pepperidge Farm Herbed Cubes are the gold standard here.
We had takeout Chinese sitting on the back patio. It hit 92 here today, but it is cooling off nicely this evening.
My wife heard from our older son but not from our younger son. He has been absorbed into the Google universe and these days doesn't even respond to texts. We only know he's still alive because sometimes he plays Minecraft online with our granddaughter.
We picked up dinner at the Farmer's market and on the way home. Nothing fancy, but we do have some nice strawberries for dessert that I bought yesterday. I was thinking about making a Charlotte sponge cake but I can't find my Charlotte pan.
We had burgers on the grill and some pie.
We had salads with tuna fish and some potato (sweet for her, baked for me.)
The Wall Street Journal has a story running today about how Brazilian farmers are looking to tropical strains of wheat as wheat prices soar. These are also high yield and high protein (15%) strains.
I'm working on my sweet potato pie, not sure if I'll get it baked tonight or tomorrow.
