I recently read about raisins, so I chose the correct answer.
I knew this one but didn't know why.
We love those Zantes currants and I buy 5# bags from Country Life Natural Foods. I use them in Buttermilk Currant scones. They are nice also in my steamed persimmon puddings. I've read in old, old cookbooks that many cooks then used currants in their steamed and boiled plum puddings.
