Probably no baking here unless it is to use up stuff that was in the main fridge.

I made 6 small pans of cranberry-orange bread to give as gifts this season. I used some of the orange peels I candied and chopped and fresh cranberies.

I'm going to make the Crystalized Meyer Lemon Bundt Cake from Claire Saffitz this week for our garden club bake sale on Saturday. I plan to organize all the ingredients ahead of time and bake it on Thursday night for drop off on Friday morning. I got 4 large Meyer lemons from a friend and then my neighbor dropped off a bunch yesterday.

Last year I had made two rum cakes, one gluten-free, but there were so many others I decided to do something different.

On Sunday, I baked my adaptation of Ellen's bus as 15 rolls for our trip home. I baked them on the small, heavy sheet pan that I brought as part of my cooking/baking gear.

I made a rum cake for my husband to take to a meeting tomorrow night. I still need to poke holes in the top with a toothpick and drizzle a glaze of butter, sugar, and rum over it. I also mixed molasses-ginger cookies for the Christmas Eve cookie tray. They have been chilling in the fridge, so tomorrow I will scoop and freeze the dough until that day.

I made whole wheat pizza ond December 9th and vegetarian split-pea soup. This is the first whole-wheat pizza for a long while. It came out well, but the texture was a surprise. I used one of the big carrots in the split pea soup, but it was nearly half a pound, so the equivalent of 4 thinner carrots. Soup and Stew recipes are very forgiving as to ingredients.

I made my Meyer lemon bundt cake tonight after work. Well, I put it together and baked it tonight. Last night I zested the lemon and combined it with the sugar; then I squeezed the lemon juice and put it in the fridge. This morning I set out all the ingredients I needed for the cake, so when I got home I was ready. It came out beautifully! I will take a picture in the morning before I wrap it.

The sour cream cake looks amazing!

I took a class a the New Haven Pizza School this week. It was a birthday gift from Kate. Lots of fun and I learned some good stuff, especially their sauce. It was very simple - just canned tomatoes through the largest size grate in a food mill.

I made my mom's molasses cookies and it was a challah week as well. I always make extra challah and was meeting some college friends for lunch so I brought them each cookies and a loaf of bread. One of them texted me "keep your friends close and your bakers closer." I think I may make that a tee shirt.

I made a sour cream bundt cake to bring to my neighbor's house. I picked that cake because I wanted to use up all the eggs I got with my bonus points at Weiss. The cake called for 6 eggs. Btw the plastic sheet is gone from our kitchen. The refrigerator is still in the middle of our dining space ,we are missing some flooring and we can't use our dishwasher which is sitting where our fridge was. Some of our cabinets are gutted. I miss the lazy susan. Anyway I can still use most of our appliances.

I baked several of the scooped and chilling molasses-ginger dough; my husband has not had cookies for a couple of weeks. You could send your excess eggs to me, navlys! Large white eggs are now about $5.00 a dozen here. Eggnog? Pavlova? Meringue?

Eggs were 3.98 at Aldi this week, over $4 most every where else. I saw a story on food prices on CNBC this week, in NYC the price is over $6.00 a dozen, and egg prices are not expected to go down for a while, for a host of reasons.
