Why shouldn’t you put pineapple in gelatin?

I knew this. But I believe you can use canned pineapple.
I was able to work out the correct answer. I knew the what, and now I know the why.
Pineapple does not like my husband's digestive system, so I avoid using it. He does remember liking the taste of fresh pineapple back when he could eat it.
I knew this too and yes Len it's OK as long as it's canned.
I wonder if heating up the pineapple for canning disables the enzyme.
Don't know BakerAunt I just know I've always used tidbits in jello without problems.

I should have said 'fresh pineapple'.
I knew this. Well not the exact name, but I knew that fresh pineapple enzymes can digest protein.
