I made a Lemon Chess pie today with a pie crust I had made and had been in the freezer a couple months.Wasn't sure how it would do, but it was fine. The pie is so good and lemony almost like a lemon curd. The pie crust was one I got off the net called Sylvia's perfect pie crust and Ree Drummond from The Pioneer Woman always uses it.I've never made a scone BakerAunt must give them a try someday.

September 11, 2017 at 10:34 pm in reply to: What are You Cooking the Week of September 10, 2017? #9031Hey ya'll we're fine, our power went out this morning at 6:20 a.m. and came back on at 5:00 p.m.We have been blessed as only a few limbs and debris in the yard.A lot of friends and family has trees on their homes and trees on their cars so we surely won't complain. Our road we live on had several trees across the road and volunteer firemen and people were out cutting them down and clearing the way.Nothing was open around us,no gas stations or restaurants but we were prepared for that.Buddy when the electric came back on I got a pot of coffee going. We had steady rain & winds were very scary....fierce,you could hear the trees cracking in the yard and woods near our house.I'm glad Irma's gone.Cwcdesign I pray you will find your place in good shape when you get back home.I was very proud of our area, I was told several places were giving food to the evacuees, and several restaurants fed the people that were parked in the parking lots free also.

I'm baking cinnamon rolls tonight with cream cheese icing.
I made fresh creamed corn, fried okra and cubed pork.
I always use salted butter in all my baking and rarely omit the salt and I really can't tell any difference.I have used the unsalted a few times but since I use more salted that's what I buy.
I made fried rice with ham tonight and pear salad with mayonnaise and cheese on top.

I have left over pork tenderloin for sandwiches and will make lima bean soup out of left over beans for tonight...cleaning out the fridge.
I haven't been posting much lately, been very busy.Went and stayed with my sister while her daughter went on vacation.Had a great time and when I got back my cousins husband who I use to be a caregiver for died, happy and sad all at the same time.He was only 61 and had kidney disease and liver failure and a very bad diabetic. He had to go to dialysis 4 times a week.Anyways all's well now and I have been baking a little.Made Mikes Honey Wheat bread only half the recipe and added in 3/4 cup of the seven grain cereal. It has a great taste still a little heavy but a very good breakfast bread toasted with jam.I soaked the cereal as ya'll suggested and that made a big difference.Made the old standby of Banana bread also.Always enjoy reading every ones post.
Mike I've made your recipe for the Austrian Malt Bread and it's very good.Really like a store bought bread but much better!
Cwdesign sure hope your wrist doesn't give you much trouble! As my mom always said -where there is a will-there is a way!BBQ is one of my favorites!
Tonight I made Shepards pie with mashed potatoes and cheese on top.
