The recipe I make is from King Arthur Shortbread I put the vanilla in it but not almond or other flavorings.
Riverside Len that cake looks good!
Just the two of us this year and I baked ham, made turnips with roots and mustard greens cooked together with pork neck bone, corn bread and onions soaked in vinegar for the greens. That was it,so good and we had Edwards lemon pie the closest one to my mom's.It's overcast and sprinkling here.
Chocomouse sure hope you heal up from surgery and sending prayers.
Our son lives in Texas and hasn't been home in about 2 years, sure miss him and the grandchildren and if they had come I'd really been rattling them pots and pans.
May you all have a Blessed Thanksgiving.Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I tried something new today.I made cinnamon rolls but instead of just brown sugar, butter and cinnamon I added some strawberry preserves, they turned out really good.It was a little messy and I thought I had added too much but after they baked it was fine.I had some lemon glaze in the fridge so I added that to some cream cheese icing I had and it was great,a little lemony but not overpowering.I gave half to my sister that lives next door.I've been adding left over mashed potatoes to my cinnamon rolls and it really makes them so good and so tender, you can see some black pepper in them but it doesn't affect taste, and I'm the only one that sees that my sister said she didn't notice.

Those look nice Riverside Len!
Used up left over ham and rice to make fried rice, only had to dice bell pepper, celery green onions and a carrot.Quick and easy add sliced bread and butter we good to go!
We had ham, rice and tomato gravy, garden peas with carrots and buttermilk biscuits.
Rascals and Italiancook I've made this bread before and it's been a favorite recipe, love it and it's so easy.
Tonight made fried chicken that had been soaked in buttermilk, baked sweet potatoes and green butter beans.Buttermilk sure adds good crunch to the crust on the chicken.
I use real onions and a lot of onion powder also,Dollar General brand works for me!I really like it in my tuna salad too!Add it to most dishes that use onion.
