My niece is with me, today's her Birthday so we had burgers in town.
October 27, 2024 at 5:47 pm #44459We gladly ate more of the split pea soup that I made yesterday.
October 27, 2024 at 6:26 pm #44461Left over pizza, plus a salad (for me) and a small slice of apple pie.
October 27, 2024 at 10:24 pm #44464I made stuffed peppers. Had one with brussels sprouts and toast.
October 28, 2024 at 6:58 pm #44466For dinner on Monday, I roasted two bone-in chicken breasts. I also roasted cubed potatoes tossed in olive oil. We also had microwaved frozen lima beans.
October 28, 2024 at 7:17 pm #44467I had the last of Saturday's pizza for supper, Diane had a take-out burrito.
October 29, 2024 at 8:18 am #44471My middle, Henry, is in his first semester of college and where he is has no meal plan. He does eat some meals out but he has also started cooking! While most things have been successful so far he made a little mistake with the garlic in his meatballs the other day and added two bulbs of garlic instead of two cloves!!! Mike, this would not be a recipe for you and Diane! But, college boys being college boys he and his suite mates ate them.
Violet is starting to cook now. Her first attempt was mac & cheese. It came out pretty well. I made the roux as she had to go to field hockey. It's the first time I ever made a roux. The recipe said to mix with a spoon but it looked like it wasn't coming together so I switched to a whisk and that seemed to give better results.
Our kitchen is a bit challenging for her because she is still only 4'8" or so and the counters and stove are high for her. With baking I can move everything to the kitchen table for mixing and shaping, etc. And the ovens are low.
October 29, 2024 at 1:03 pm #44475Salmon, salad, potatoes tonight.
October 29, 2024 at 1:28 pm #44476I'm glad to hear that at least two of your kids have found their way into the kitchen, Aaron. I believe all people should have at least basic cooking skills and develop pride in being able to care for themselves and others.
As for the garlic: It's a good thing that none of the guys had a date that night!
October 29, 2024 at 5:22 pm #44479Haddock, green salad, and leftover potato salad tonight!
October 29, 2024 at 7:18 pm #44480We had the rest of the pea soup tonight.
October 29, 2024 at 8:58 pm #44481We had tuna salad tonight, I made a big batch of hard boiled eggs so Diane can make deviled eggs to take to the Halloween pot luck at her office on Thursday. I'm also going to experiment with a batch of ossi de morti cookies (rather than pan de muerto), modified to make it more keto-friendly.
October 29, 2024 at 9:21 pm #44482A stuffed pepper, pasta and green beans.
October 30, 2024 at 4:58 pm #44494I'm doing baked pork chops (reverse seared) with a variant on Sauce Robert (mustard/onions/white wine) and broccoli.
