I forgot to make yogurt yesterday, so I made it on Sunday.
I doubt that "birthing person" is going to catch on. Some of us end up in the mother role without ever giving birth.
June 20, 2021 at 3:53 pm #30332I just grilled some chicken tenders to use in chicken salad. There were quite a lot so it's possible I might not use them all and save some for another meal.
I'm with BA - some of the "birthing people" aren't necessarily the mothers that actually are supportive.
Happy Fathers Day to you Mike and all the other dads connected to the forum.
June 20, 2021 at 6:44 pm #30333Happy Father's Day to all the men on here.
Today we had BBQ chicken in the pot with BBQ gravy to go over rice and we had garden pea salad.
June 20, 2021 at 6:50 pm #30335We had leftover pork tenderloin on the buns I baked this afternoon, along with a salad.
June 20, 2021 at 10:03 pm #30336I made yogurt yesterday BA. I used to forget to pull it out of the warm oven for hours and it would be too tart. I discovered how easy it is to set the timer on my cell phone. Problem solved.
I made Bolognese sauce from Marcella Hazan's recipe for dinner tonight. Made 5 times the recipe. Since most of the work is just being there for hours to stir this really works out. Most went into the freezer. My DIL had a baby two months ago. The lactation specialist kept talking about "chest feeding". Oye
June 21, 2021 at 5:43 am #30339🙄 does that mean men can now do it too?
June 21, 2021 at 6:38 pm #30349We had leftovers of pork tenderloin, green butter beans ,creamed corn and I fried fresh green tomatoes and baked a small peach cobbler.
June 21, 2021 at 6:48 pm #30351We were blessed with cooler weather today—highs in the low 70s—so I made soup, using carrots, celery, and red bell pepper sauteed in olive oil, browned ground turkey, sliced mushrooms, minced garlic, 2 cups of Bob’s Red Mill Vegi Soup combo of red and brown lentils and split green and yellow peas, as well as barley—the potato water from cooking the potatoes for potato salad last week and the giblet broth from the turkey we had last week. I seasoned with 1 Tbs. rehydrated onion and 1 Tbs. Penzey’s Ozark seasoning. It went well with the buns I baked yesterday.
June 21, 2021 at 7:00 pm #30352DH ate leftover 7 Layer Mexican salad, and I had a mixed greens salad with tomatoes, bell peppers, red onion, cukes, lots of herbs snipped on the deck, and pomegranite balsamic. We just had a wicked storm go through here, with more to pass through in the next 2 hours. It was 94* at 4:00, down to 70* now, and only in the 60s tomorrow.
June 22, 2021 at 10:31 pm #30357We had hamburger steaks and fries.
June 23, 2021 at 9:14 pm #30361We had a large lunch so dinner was just figs, ricotta and pecans along with a cup of hot tea. We ate on the newly cleaned up patio and wore sweatshirts! Unseasonably cool weather and we loved it.
June 23, 2021 at 10:04 pm #30362My husband had lima beans, tomato gravy, bacon and fried corn bread I made me a pizza.
June 24, 2021 at 6:13 pm #30365A neighbor gave us an unused bag of coleslaw mix (cabbage and carrots). I looked up a buttermilk dressing recipe on the internet and settled on this one from J. Kenji Alt-Lopez:

I like that it uses less mayonnaise and more buttermilk. I mixed it together on Wednesday evening, so it could set before we would start having it for dinner the next day. I had to delete the onion and go easy on the pepper in deference to my husband. We had it with dinner tonight, and I will make this dressing again. Having to leave the onion out makes it blander than I like. I may add ¼ tsp. onion powder next time.
I also roasted cut-up red potatoes, tossed in olive oil with Penzey’s Mural seasoning, and my husband pan cooked pork to complete the dinner.
June 24, 2021 at 10:02 pm #30366We had taco salad tonight.
