I decided since I'm tired of spending lots of time in the kitchen making dinner from some new recipe that we could have hot dogs and beans, (my husband loves baked beans). Anyway I started searching for the healthiest hot dogs. I never realized how much saturated fat, sodium, sugar and carbs were in hot dogs. Ugh. I almost gave up on the idea. None of our nearby supermarkets carry the applegate all beef franks which is said to be one of the healthier ones. To end this saga...I found Dietz and Watson all beef uncured franks at our supermarket and they seem healthier than most Hot dogs it will be!.

I had a steak and sautéed mushrooms with onions.

To go with leftover turkey-zucchini loaf for dinner on Thursday, I cooked half a bag of radiator pasta, which I found at Aldi's on the specials' aisle, and combined it with 4 oz. of goat cheese. I add a bit of freshly grated black pepper atop my serving. We also had microwaved fresh broccoli using the new microwave oven, a Cuisinart, that we bought for our kitchen. It is definitely faster than the 25+ year old one that was Scott's parents. The old one will go into the Annex kitchen in the apartment over the garage for use by guests.

          Your dinner looks delicious, Joan!

Navlys--yes, sigh, it is hard to find a "it's not bad for you," hotdog. I have had turkey dogs that I liked, but again, you have to read the labels closely.

Navlys, the better hot dogs cost more but I don't mind, it's worth it. I usually get Whole Foods 365 brand all beef uncured dogs.

Joan, you're making me hungry for steak!

Tonight I roasted Italian sausage and made mashed potato and brussels sprouts.

We had sandwiches last night, needed something relatively fast so I could get started on 4 batches of Hot Cross Buns.

I had a hot dog for something fast. I've been in the kitchen since 6am. I made garden pea salad to take to my friends tomorrow and a big dish of Watergate salad.Lots of baking today.

Dinner tonight was chicken thighs on the grill, along with grilled potato chunks and the last zip-lock bag of last year's asparagus. We'll have fresh asparagus from the garden in 6-8 weeks.

I forgot to thaw the fish, so we repeated last night's dinner of turkey-zucchini loaf, pasta and pasta with goat cheese, but this time with microwaved frozen peas.
