Beware the dreaded ticks. I took a shower at 9 am and discovered a black tick on my right back shoulder! I could reach it but not see what I was doing. Went to my friend's house and she got it out. No target or redness but I'm calling the dr tomorrow fir a prophylactic dose of doxycycline.
Be careful out there.
That's exactly what happened to me last week, Kimbob. I found the tick while showering. I finished up my antibiotics last Tuesday. From now on, I go into the woods doused in Picaridin, which works very well. (CWCdesign told me about it.) I got mine from REI.
Thanks, I'll do that! It was actually a brown Lyme tick. Ugh
Glad to know the picaridin works so well BA - I'll have to get some. Will went into the brush yesterday morning and found one on the way out. We double checked him when he got home and we didn't find any more
Picaridin also protects against chigger mite bites. I was able to avoid them last year when I picked blackberries. Note: it's not the chiggers, it's their mites that are the problem.
Bought some today from Amazon -- Sawyer brand. Took a prophylaxis dose of doxy today. Hopefully, that will do it.
