What is bulgur wheat?

I knew the answer because it is sometimes called cracked wheat. Does the durum mean it is not whole grain?

I guessed correctly! I have heard of bulgar wheat but don't remember doing anything with it.

I have used it in baking, and I also have cooked it in chicken broth for a quick side dish.
Bulgur wheat has been parboiled so it is partially cooked, I've even seen places that said it can be eaten without further cooking, though I don't know anybody who does that.
Cracked wheat has been cracked but not cooked.
So, they're similar but not identical.
Interesting, Mike. I've used them interchangeably in baked goods. Usually they were mixed with hot water first.
