Cheesecake Bars

Cheesecake taste in a bar cookie
Source: old family recipe
Crust:
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1/3 cup ground almonds
filling:
1/4 cup sugar
8 ounces cream cheese
1 egg
2 TBS milk
1 TBS lemon juice
1/2 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream butter and sugar; stir in flour and almonds till mixture is crumbly. Reserve 1 cup of crumb mixture.
Pat remaining crumbs into ungreased 9-inch square pan; bake at 350 for 12 to 14 minutes, till edges are very lightly browned. Cool 10 minutes before adding filling.
To make cheese layer, cream sugar and cheese; beat in other ingredients one at a time and continue beating till mixture is smooth. Spread on baked crust; sprinkle on reserved crumbs.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350.
Cool; slice into bars. Refrigerate leftovers.
For a double batch, use a 10" by 15" pan.
