I picked about a half cup of black raspberries from the patch on our terrace on Friday. These are the first of the season, helped along by the rains, and by my husband hand watering with buckets of lake water. We have not checked how they are doing in our woodlands yet.

My husband tells me that we have tiny tomatoes on the cherry tomato plants, but I looked and do not see them yet.

I bought two bell pepper plants from the farmers market vendor who is my go-to guy for plant starts. The two that Scott started are very tiny, so I hope that this way we may have a chance of getting our own bell peppers this year. they will have to go into pots, as the garden space is limited, and we want our beans to do well.

The squash is growing like mad. Compare this to the pic I posted 10 days ago. I'm afraid the container won't be able to contain the plants.

Well, something ate two of our pumpkin plants overnight. We have not had this problem before. It may have been a deer, but Scott thought that it might also have been a chipmunk. He will be putting Deer Out on the leaves. The side of our house has no fence, but we ran out of room in the garden, and the side of the house is a good sunny spot. I may have to figure out how to cage the plants.

A good sign, I see a cluster of small tomatoes on my Champion plant.

We were worried about our plants while we were out of town this weekend, but it rained, and they did well. There are lots of green cherry tomatoes, and one actually ripened! There are now little cucumbers on those plants, and the beans are starting. The pumpkin plant really liked the rain.
