Not sure what we'll do for dinner tonight.
I've been doing some cleaning/reorganization of the kitchen so it'll probably have to be something fairly simple to make, though I may do a batch of tomato relish because I picked 8 pounds of tomatoes this afternoon and I need to do something with them before they start to go bad.
September 7, 2025 at 7:50 pm #47288I wound up doing some plumbing work and deeper cleaning than I had planned because we had some water back up onto the kitchen floor. Green Gobbler seems to have worked its magic on the drain line, but I'm going to put it down the kitchen drains again later tonight. (I really ought to do that every few months.) I'm still working on sanitizing that part of the kitchen floor.
So we both wound up having just salads for supper.
September 7, 2025 at 9:37 pm #47289We did a roundtrip to the Indianapolis airport, which took up a large part of the day. Fortunately, we had some tasty leftovers for dinner--the remaining maple glazed pork tenderloin, and I made more mixed brown and wild rice to go with it. We also had microwaved fresh broccoli.
September 8, 2025 at 7:27 pm #47290I made yogurt on Monday. While we had company, I did not have time, and I ran out.
For dinner, we had leftover hamburger stroganoff over the rest of the mixed brown and wild rice and more microwaved fresh broccoli.
September 8, 2025 at 7:28 pm #47291I had chicken skewers , yogurt and pickles.
September 8, 2025 at 7:46 pm #47294Dinner tonight was grilled chicken breasts (three of them for planned leftovers, they are gigantic, and we will be eating leftovers for days!), zucchini and yellow squash casserole, and brown rice.
September 9, 2025 at 5:53 pm #47295I love leftovers Chocomouse. Tonight I had rotisserie chicken and fruit.I had planned for meatloaf but I had a friend come and get the rest of the downed tree and stump ground up from last years hurricane. So happy to see it gone and cleaned up.Only charged me $200.00 ... I was blessed again.
September 9, 2025 at 7:02 pm #47296We had burgers on the grill with a slice of tomato and some green pepper slices that I grilled.
September 9, 2025 at 10:07 pm #47299For dinner on Tuesday, I made another large pasta salad, using the rest of the multi-colored bow tie pasta, sliced carrots, celery, onion, and chopped red bell pepper and cucumber quarters, and halved multi-colored cherry tomatoes. I'm still working out the dressing. Currently, I use ½ cup olive oil, ¼ cup red wine vinegar, 1 tsp. Dijon mustard, 2 Tbs. maple syrup, and 2 tsp. Penzey's Sandwich Sprinkle blend. I also add Greek olives and sprinkle feta cheese over individual servings.
We had the pasta salad with Turkey-Zucchini Loaf with Peach Dijon Mustard Glaze. We have enough planned overs for two more meals, which is good, as I am catching up on laundry after having had guests.
September 10, 2025 at 4:47 pm #47302I had a big day in town all day so I cooked me a hamburger and chips today.
September 10, 2025 at 5:58 pm #47304We had planned overs from Tuesday.
September 11, 2025 at 6:27 pm #47306I was busy all day and settled for a banana sandwich and yogurt.
September 11, 2025 at 6:59 pm #47307I made tuna salad with a green salad and tortilla chips
September 11, 2025 at 9:57 pm #47308We did our big shopping trip to the little city about half an hour away, which means hitting three grocery stores, a Ross and a Marshall's, and running a couple of errands. It was good to have the rest of the turkey-zucchini loaf and more of the pasta salad for dinner.
September 12, 2025 at 6:37 pm #47313For dinner on Friday, I took the recipe, "White Wine-Braised Chicken with Artichokes," which I have now made twice, and replaced the artichokes, which Scott will not eat, with sliced mushrooms and increased the white wine by 2 Tbs. It is a quick recipe that cooks on the stove top. I cooked a mixture of brown and wild rice in my rice cooker to have with the chicken, mushrooms, and sauce. I like this version of the recipe, although I might increase the paprika by 1/4 tsp. next time, as I omit the oregano in deference to my husband's digestive system. We also had microwaved fresh broccoli.
