I picked about 20 pounds of tomatoes this morning, so I'm going to be making tomato sauce today.

Planning a pizza for supper trying to see if we can make one like we had at the Wolfgang Puck Kitchen in Grand Rapids.

I usually eat 1 meal nowadays for lunch and dinner. Made a 2 lb omaha steaks chateaubriand that I had in the freezer which was for my husband. I'm not a huge fan of beef. So I made it for me and the dog along with bernaise sauce (French tarragon in the garden) and mashed potatoes. Leftovers for sandwiches. It was so tender! Shorty loved it, of course.

That sounds very good, Kimbob, and I'm not a big fan of beef either.

That is quite the tomato haul, Mike. Ours are not doing so great this year. I may need to buy some to make sauce.

Some insects got into our green beans and ate the leaves, so we are probably done with green beans from our garden, much earlier than usual. I made Green Bean Salad with cherry tomatoes and Greek cheese crumbles for Sunday dinner, which we had with more chicken salad on buns. It is great using our own green beans and cherry tomatoes.

We're having a pretty good tomato season, unlike last year. I expect I'll get several more bonanza harvests like that before the outdoor season is over.

I didn't even use all the tomatoes I picked today or sauce.

I'm never sure whether to put pizza in 'baking' or 'cooking'. 🙂

Tonight's pizza was edible, but probably more of a learning experience than anything else. I've got enough dough to make 2 or 3 more pizzas this week, so I'll keep experimenting. The top was too soggy and the dough didn't rise as much as I had hoped, shaping probably contributed to that.

I wound up with 15 small containers of tomato sauce, ranging from 2 ounces to 6 ounces each. Perfect for things like pizzas. They'll go in the freezer tomorrow.

I was initially planning steak night, but Diane had a last-minute project that kept her at the office until around 6:30, so we went with sweet corn and sandwich meats. Steaks tomorrow.

I had pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw and corn on the cob.

I pulled a couple of meatballs from the freezer and had it with spaghetti.

We finished the last of the chicken salad sandwiches and had more of the Green Bean, Cherry Tomato, and Greek Cheese salad. I remembered to toast some almonds for it tonight.

Cleaning out the fridge... BBQ pulled pork, coleslaw and pickles.

We did our big shopping trip to Plymouth today, then our local grocery store shopping to take advantage of the 10% Senior discount on Tuesday. So, I planned a meal that would not need a lot of hands-on time. I made Black-Eyed Peas with rice, ham, and vegetables (yellow bell peppers from a previous farmers market, chopped celery, and kale). I cook the black-eyed peas by themselves, the rice in the rice cooker, and sauté the vegetables in olive oil before mixing them together. I had ham pieces from the freezer to add. I was delighted at Walmart to discover four bags of Castor River long grain brown rice. I was about to use up the last bag that I bought at a market in South Bend. These were on sale for $2 for a 1 lb. bag, so I bought all four bags. While I cannot put my finger on why, this rice works the best in my black-eyed peas recipe.

BakerAunt, I hope you recover quickly and completely from your recent fall. I also hope you don't have any long-term problems because of it. I'm encouraged that you're still in the kitchen cooking away as usual.

Busy busy day so it was a grilled cheese sandwich.

We had tuna melts made with extra sharp cheddar cheese.
