I read that the postal service will be adding a surcharge to packages shipped during the holiday season. If you are thinking of mailing early, think REALLY early, because it will run from October 22, 2022, through January 22, 2023.

USPS did the same last year.

Oh, and stamps will go up another two cents in the fall.

Well, they have to pay for all those electric mail trucks that they didn't want to order (but did to appease Congress) somehow.

UPS and FEDEX have had holiday surcharges for a few years, at least for retail customers and small-volume shippers.

Two years ago I made my own chocolate Advent calendar and it cost us something like $35 to ship it to our granddaughter. For that price I could have ordered her a Godiva chocolate calendar or two.

There were no electric mail trucks on order last year, but there were surcharges.

Last year, I was caught by surprise, so I wanted to make sure people on this site are aware this year and plan accordingly.
