Quickbread - Mom's Nova Scotia Lemon Bread

Bread:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
zest of 1 lemon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Topping:
1/2 cup sugar
juice of one lemon
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Beat well. Add lemon zest.
Whisk dry ingredients together. Add 1/3 dry, 1/3 wet, etc. Mix well.
Bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes. Drizzle topping on while hot.
Modified 6/09 to increase flour to 8 ounces (2 C).

8 oz sugar
4 oz butter
4 oz milk
8 oz flour
