Canadian officials have claimed an outbreak of E. Coli is due to romaine lettuce, US officials have not yet concluded their investigation. As of January 5, 2018, cases of E. Coli have been reported in Canada and in around a dozen states, including Nebraska.
Although no recall or warning has been issued in the USA yet, it seems quite likely that romaine lettuce is going to be hard to find in the grocery stores soon.
