      INSTRUCTIONS
Found this on recipeusa.net, posted by "shatzie17", who describes them as: "Tiny chunks of candied fruit adorn these festive, wreath-shaped German cookies".

      1/2 cup butter
      1/2 cup sugar
      2 egg yolks
2 hard-cooked egg yolks, pressed through sieve
      1/2 tsp vanilla
      1/4 tsp salt
      1/4 tsp almond extract
      1 2/3 cup flour
1/4 cup light cream or half and half

      1 egg white
      1 TBS water

      Colored or regular sugar
Snipped mixed candied fruit, or finely chopped candied red or green cherries

In mixing bowl, beat butter 30 seconds. Add 1/2 cup sugar, beat until fluffy. Add the uncooked yolks, sieved yolks, vanilla, salt, almond extract. Beat until light. Add the flour, and the cream, alternately, beating after each addition. Chill 3 to 24 hours. On floured surface, roll out dough 1/8" thick. Cut out with doughnut cutter. Arrange on ungreased sheets.

Combine egg white and water, brush on cookies, sprinkle with sugar, and bits of fruit.

Bake at 375F, for 6 to 8 minutes, until the edges just start to brown.

      Makes approximately 48 cookies.

Store at room temperature for 1-2 days, or freeze for up to six months.
