Can't wait ti hear how these tomatoes taste!
Len, how does it taste? As good as it looks?
I brined a pork tenderloin and served it topped with garlic bbq sauce, mashed potatoes and corn with feta cheese.
Crab cakes (with lots of lump crab) were on sale and since they required little prep I purchased them for dinner last evening. I served them with broccoli slaw and some french fries. I don't think our house will ever find peace. We hired the worst contractor in hopes of getting everything done quickly. Big Mistake!
Since we are in the process of having our floor torn up and our furniture stacked everywhere there is no cooking going on. My neighbor brought over some spaghetti with meat sauce which we could microwave. In moving stuff around I reacquainted myself with my electric crepe maker, my panini press, my pressure cooker, my spaetzel tool which still has the wrapper on it, my vita mixer and my extra food processor bowl. Can't wait to use this stuff!
Just got back from 2 weeks in Egypt where they served us omelets every day. I shop at Weiss enough to earn 100 points every once in a while. With these points I can get 18 eggs for $2.99. They used to be $1.99. I'm not complaining.
That's great news! Was thinking of purchasing one before they said they were closing down.
Thank you all for your concern. One of life's little glitches. We will really appreciate it when everything goes back to normal.
I made a sour cream bundt cake to bring to my neighbor's house. I picked that cake because I wanted to use up all the eggs I got with my bonus points at Weiss. The cake called for 6 eggs. Btw the plastic sheet is gone from our kitchen. The refrigerator is still in the middle of our dining space ,we are missing some flooring and we can't use our dishwasher which is sitting where our fridge was. Some of our cabinets are gutted. I miss the lazy susan. Anyway I can still use most of our appliances.
That's great that the friendship has continued. Also nice to put a face to a name. BA I pictured you as Aunt Bee from Mayberry lol!
Here's my refrigerator story. We did not realize that we had a slow leak in our ice maker line....for over a year. When our baseboard in the cut out for our refrigerator started bulging out we realized we had an issue. We discovered that the ice maker line (made of plastic) had a crack and voila! The plumber replaced the line with a stainless steel ? line. Bottom line my kitchen floor and beyond has mold as do the walls near the fridge. We have been a week without the use of our kitchen. The floor which runs from our kitchen through our dining area and living area will have to be replaced because floor warehouses no longer store samples.
I read at least 10 of the Doc Ford series several years ago. I was hooked. A friend gave them to me and I read them in order. Now I can't remember the last one I read.
On another note we are not going to our annual haunt this year (Madeira Beach). Due to 2 hurricanes the building we rent in lost their pool for who knows how long and several units including the one we rent suffered water damage in some walls and were without power for several days. I read comments on facebook and the natives are trying to get people to come down while others are saying things are still dismal. ? How was St Petersburg?
We had tuna melts topped with half of a cherry tomato and sharp provolone cheese. I put a little pickle juice in with the mayonnaise. I also add a little chopped carrot and celery salt.
November 25, 2024 at 6:41 am in reply to: What are you Cooking the Week of November 24, 2024? #44755I made a recipe from Fine Cooking (on facebook). It was sauteed chicken with cherry tomatoes and asparagus. It was tasty.
The Ka mini scone recipe says that each crevice? takes approx. 1/4 cup of dough. That turned out about right. It was still difficult to fill the crevices ? with a scoop.
