It's Tuesday. Have you started thawing your Thanksgiving turkey yet?

I enjoyed that, BA. I'm not doing a turkey (having chicken) but when I do, I have to start thawing it on Sunday otherwise I get frostbite trying to get the gizzards and neck out of the cavity.

I'm not having turkey either, nor chicken. On Sunday, I bought a rotisserie chicken to be sure I had something in the house this week. I'm making some of my favorite appetizers for Thursday - I'm thankful I can do that!

I moved our turkey to the refrigerator on Friday morning. Today, I turned it over. My experience is that it takes at least a week in the refrigerator to thaw a 15 lb. turkey.

The turkey is actually a little over 17 lbs., which was the smallest we could find at Aldi's. It was mostly defrosted, after six days in the refrigerator, although it had a chunk or two of ice still inside. Scott put it into the oven at 2:05 p.m.

My store was sold out of turkey breasts! so I got the smallest whole turkey in the freezer chest - 11 pounds. But it will be good to have couple of turkey sandwiches and soup meals in the next few weeks.
