      Description
      Fried Apple Pies

      Summary
      Yield: 0 File under: Pies

      Instructions
3 medium apples, peeled and chopped
      1 Tbsp. water
      2/3 c. sugar
      1 Tbsp. flour
      1/8 tsp. cinnamon
      1/8 tsp. nutmeg

      Pastry (recipe follows)
      Vegetable oil (for frying)

Combine apples and water in a saucepan; cover and cook over low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Drain off any liquid that accumulates.

Combine sugar, flour, and spices; stir well. Add to apples and cook over medium heat 10 minutes or until mixture thickens.

Roll pastry to 1/8 inch thickness and cut out 4 or 5 inch circles. Spoon ~1 1/2 Tbsp. filling onto each circle. Moisten edges of circles; fold pastry in half. Using a fork dipped in flour, press edges together to seal.

Heat 1 inch of oil to 375. Fry pies until golden.

      2 c. flour
      1 tsp. salt
      1/2 c. milk
      1/2 c. oil

Combine flour and salt. Combne milk and oil, stirring well. Pour milk mixture into flour mixture and stir just until blended. Shape dough into a ball. (This is enough pastry for about 8 pies.)
