My sister in law accidentally left her standup freezer door ajar overnight. The next morning most was still frozen so we had to remove all out in other freezers. It was making a terrible sound she thought it had burnt up the motor. I called a friend that does AC work and he said to unplug the freezer so it could totally defrost or just shutting the door would mess it up. She did as he said and left it unplugged for 6-8 hours and when she plugged it up it's running fine and freezing. Passing it on in case this happens to you.
