INSTRUCTIONS
I found this recipe in my Step-mother's recipes while putting together a "Family Recipe Book".
Cakes:
Sift together:
2 1/2 C. flour
2 C. sugar
5 T. Cocoa
1/4 t. salt
Beat together:
2 eggs
1 T. vanilla
1 C. salad oil
1 c. buttermilk
Add dry ingredients. Lastly,
Add: 1 C. BOILING WATER with 2 tsp. SODA dissolved in it.
Bake @ 350 about 20 min.
Filling:
1 1/2 C. sugar
1/3 c. milk
2/3 c. "crisco"
1/4 t. salt
1 T. water
Beat for 5 minutes. (This will look awful)
Add: 1/2 C. pwd. sugar. And beat until fluffy.
Use writing tip of cake decorator to put filling into warm cupcakes. Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting.
