Blackberry Jam Cake

INGREDIENTS
Cake:
6 eggs, well beaten
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
3 cups plain flour
2 cups blackberry jam
1 cup buttermilk
1 tspn soda
1 tspn allspice
1 tspn cloves
1 tspn cinnamon
1/4 tspn salt
1 cup chopped pecans
Icing:
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups half and half or evaporated milk
1 cup butter
1 1/2 tspn vanilla
2 TBLS white Karo
1 cup chopped pecans
INSTRUCTIONS
Cake:
Sift flour and all other dry ingredients together. Set aside in mixing bowl. Cream butter and sugar. Add well beaten eggs. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately, ending with dry ingredients. Blend well except for the last 1/3 cup dry ingredients, fold it in and add jam and nuts. Bake in 3 layers at 350 degrees until done, about 35-40 minutes.
Icing:
Mix all ingredients, except nuts. Boil until thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and whip until creamy and add nuts. Spread between layers and over top of cake. This icing cools quickly.
