      DESCRIPTION
      Rolled sugar cookies

      SUMMARY
Yield 0 File under Cookies Brownies Bars

      INSTRUCTIONS
      2/3 cup shortening
      2/3 cup butter, room temperature
      1 1/2 cups sugar
      2 eggs
      2 tsp vanilla
      3 1/2 cups flour
      2 tsp baking powder
      1 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 375. Cream shortening, butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until combined. Add dry ingredients and mix well on low speed. Sprinkle flour on pastry mat, board or counter. Take about 1/3 of the dough and sprinkle with flour. Roll out until you get the thickness that you like. You may need to sprinkle additional flour. Use cookie cutters to cut out cookies. Place on ungreased airbake cookie sheets and bake until just starting to brown, about 10-12 minutes. Repeat with remaing dough.

I don't usually have to refrigerate this dough before rolling out but you can. Another trick is to use flour that you have kept in your freezer for your 3 1/2 cups of flour. This chills the dough just enough to make it easier to handle.

How many cookies you get depends on how thick you roll the dough, how big the cookies are, and how much dough you eat!!

These are not a sweet cookie by themselves. They are designed to be frosted.
