Sun-maid applesauce cake

Yield: 1 loaf
Source: back of the SunMaid raisin box in the late 60s or early 70s.
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup canned applesauce
2 cups sifted cake flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
1 cup Sun-Maid raisins
3/4 cup chopped nuts
Cream shortening and sugar together thoroughly. Beat in egg. Blend in applesauce.
Resift cake flour with soda and baking powder. Blend into applesauce mixture. Stir in orange peel, raisins and nuts.
Turn into greased loaf pan (8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches). Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees F) about one hour and ten minutes. Cool in pan. Frost as desired. Makes one loaf.

I make this bread using butter instead of shortening and KA AP flour instead of cake flour.
