      Date Crumble
Submitted by pat88 on March 04, 2004 at 2:31 am

This is a recipe handed down to me from my mother-in-law. It was my favorite cookie that she used to make.

      Filling:
      10 oz. dates, chopped
3/4 cup sugar, half brown and half white
1 Tbsp. flour, mixed in with the sugar
      1 cup hot water
      Cook together until soft. Cool.

      Mix together:
      1 cup brown sugar
      1 1/2 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
      1 tsp. vanilla

Put half of the oatmeal mixture in an ungreased 9" x 13" pan and pat well evenly. Put the filling on top of this crust. Sprinkle the rest of the oatmeal mixture on top of the filling. Cover the pan tightly with foil.

Bake in a 325 degrees F oven for one hour.

      Spread the word
